NOTE: (I apologize for the confusion in the relisting of this auction. I wanted to correct the year the engine was rebuilt from 1999 to the correct year which is 1989 and add a Buy It Now price. I also appended additional information to the end of the description relating to all the parts and upgrades I have installed in the last five years.) This 1931 Model A was originally listed on Ebay in early May of this year, the Ebay item number at that time was 261013591741. (If you would like to see the details of that auction just enter that item number in the Ebay search box.) The winning bid was by a gentleman in Virginia and we made arrangements for him to pick up the car the next weekend at my home in Ohio. I drove the car a few times during that week and then parked it in the garage waiting his arrival. When he arrived on Saturday the car would not start; we spent the next few hours trying everything we knew to get it running and nothing seemed to work. At the time it appeared to be a timing issue but we did not know for sure. Because he was unable to drive it, he did not feel comfortable purchasing the car. I gave him a check for his deposit refund and he was on his way back to Virginia. I spent the next week seeking advice from the experts on FordBarn.com. I found the guys there ready and willing to help. After a few days of following their advice and several replacement parts from Snyders, I had the Model A running better than I can remember. If you are interested the thread of my conversations with the FordBarn folks it can be viewed here: www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71419&highlight=31+model+compression To make a long story short I replaced the distributor body, distributor cap and rotor. I freed up the stuck number 2 exhaust valve with a half can of PB Blaster and countless taps with a small hammer. While I was working on that side of the engine I also checked the manifolds and realized there had been some warping over the years. That contributed to leaks between the manifolds and engine block, so back to Snyders for a new exhaust manifold, intake manifold and gasket. While there I also bought a Nu-Rex timing tool which proved to be a valuable purchase. After installing the new parts and resetting the timing the Model A engine now starts and runs better than it ever has. I have driven the car about 50 miles since making the repairs and the engine runs strong. Now that I was on a roll I also fixed the Sparton horn by installing a new horn rod and cleaning the internal horn components. The Ahooga is back even with the engine off. As I mentioned in the May 2012 Ebay listing I inherited this car from my Father-in-law in 2004. He purchased the car in the mid-eighties and always had it garaged. We spent 20 years working on it together when he was not driving it back and forth from friends’ houses and the golf course. He had the engine professionally rebuilt in 1989 and made minor repairs and upgrades over the years. The car looks good from 20 feet but it would benefit from someone who has the skills and time to do some body work and a new paint job or just drive it as is, which is what we chose to do. We have not done any body work to the car in the last 28 years but when I run a magnet over the body I can tell it has filler in several different areas. I checked the top which I had never seen raised since it was in the family and there are a couple of small holes in the back where the fabric rested on metal snaps. I posted a couple of pictures to show you the areas I am referring to. I have no way of knowing how many miles are on the chassis or engine, the odometer works but the reading of 2664 may mean it turned over but that is just a guess. If you are in the Ohio area I encourage you to see and drive the car before bidding. If not, please ask questions via email and I will answer them promptly. I can also upload or send you additional pictures of specific areas of the car. After communicating with several people interested in the Model A I decided to provide additional information about the car for all to see.
