1974 BMW 2002 Automatic 2 Owner Car Sold New at Daniels Cadillac BMW in Allentown, PA to a Californian (don't know the details) - Car spent the rest of it life in California under the original owners care until approximately 2007 - as you will see in the pictures we have the original window sticker from Hoffman Motors Corp - the Sole U.S. Importer at the time. Along with the Bill of Sale to the original owner - BTW he traded in a Mercury Montego MX to get this gem. This original owner was fastidious about keeping records for this car - every service record was retained. The original owner drove the car about 104K miles - we have all the records retained for you! Later - maybe 2007 he sold it to another California who ended up moving to Maryland and paid a transport company to ship the car to the east coast - again the records are in the file. The car has a Maryland title in the 2 nd owners name. The new owner spent money on some interesting items - like $2600 for new motor mounts, cooling system components etc, and then another $940 for a weber carb and hot ignition system from racetep.com. BTW: there are extensive photos at : http://s1158.photobucket.com/albums/p610/PerformancePowersports/ We are a dealer and were able to acquire the car for resale - but we haven't had any interaction with these owners we just have the documentation to substantiate the information above. The car appears to have the original paint on it - as you will see in the photos we used a paint meter to measure the thickness and all appear to be original with the exception of the drivers rear fender where we detected a thicker surface paint indicating some paint work. Interior seems all original - and has a seam separation on the drivers seat and a crack in the dash - 2 of them The carpet is in really good shape. The glass is in really good shape as I saw records of new windscreen seals along with way. The car drives quite well - accelerates great, brakes straight when you remove your hands from the wheels. Starts right up. We photographed a small amount of rust in the spare tire well - that needs attention and on the underside of the front passenger foot area, plus some near the front corners under the hood but other than that the body is really solid. The worst of the paint areas is around the drivers door handle. I guess I would describe this as an original 1974 BMW 2002 Auto - unrestored and un altered and un molested making it a fantastic car to purchase given its 2 owner history with love and care. We would really like to meet the original owner and intend to reach out to him - he has to be interesting person and we would like to know more about the car from his perspective. The pictures are provided to tell the rest of the story. And for you to evaluate the car. The car is being sold as is and where is and we only want bidders that intend to pay. We are genuine about selling the car and will assist the buyer with transportation and or storage until it can be picked up. We are a family owned and operated Powersports dealership (franchised) and also tinkers with Porsches and other fun cars. The car does have a reserve but it is reasonable and we are using the auction format to sell it to the high bidder. We do not intend to cut the auction off early and negotiate privately with anyone as we feel an auction bidder is entitled to ride it out to the end and win it if he/she decides to be the top bidder. You are asked to pay $1000 via paypal at the end of the auction (upto 48 hours but right away is a good sign) for your deposit and then wire the balance with in 3 days - you can send a certified check if you like but you can not use paypal or a creditcard to pay the balance b/c the fees are too high. Now if a person wants us to do SC title work we have to collect sales tax and charge for a title and we can do this for $489 including tax, and we can accommodate a credit card payment with a $300 convenience fee. We don't charge these fees unless you want these extra services - they are options for you. We also offer 7 days of free indoor storage and then charge $20 a day unlimited period indoor storage. Our preference is to keep it simple though. So what I am saying is if you are a jerk and have lots of money - buy someone else's car and fuss and fight with them - I'd prefer to sell to nice person that will continue the heritage ownership this car started off life with - in fact we are preserving the title in the 2nd owners name for you to see and or process into your name. If you don't like the car or like the way we have presented it or you know more about 2002's than we do - congratulations - we totally understand that the 2002 has a community of followers that love and know these cars foward and backwards.
