Vehicle Detail
2000 Volvo S70 Sedan, I believe this is a GLT only because it is a turbo, not sure if it is an SE or not? Can't find any markings, if anyone knows how to tell please let me know. Let me start by saying I have a friend in the wholesale auto business who lets me use his dealer number to buy and sell a few cars. I have always been an auto hobbiest, have been restoring old cars since high school. I recently decided to go part time in my career of 25 years to pursue a new business, in the meantime I am tinkering with cars to try and make ends meet. I typically try to buy cars that I have an interest in, I used to have a 2000 Volvo V70 which I loved so when I came across this S70 I felt the need to purchase it. Most of the cars I buy have slight accident damage, this one was no exception, it had a scrape along the passenger side from the front fender to the rear quarter panel, it was fairly light damage but I did replace both doors. When looking for cars I am more concerned with the overall condition of the vehicle than the damage, I always buy vehicles that appear to have been well maintained prior to the accident, this one was no exception. I bought this car originally with the intention of giving it to my daughter when she turned 16 (two weeks ago) but she has her heart set on a small SUV so we are selling this to buy something else, I wouldn't hesitate to put my 16 year old daughter in this car though, it drives extremely well. I spoke with the previous owner, she loved the car and hated to part with it, she had just had it serviced and was planning to keep it for a long time. After speaking to her I found out she had not replaced the timing belt so I just replaced the timing belt, tensioner and pulley, this with the recent service means it shouldn't need anything for a long time. The air blows cold, tires are good, rears are nearly new, front are about 50% tread and should last at least another year. The interior is extremely clean, the drivers seat shows a bit of wear on the side bolster but no where near going all the way through. There is a slight noise in the front end, a thumping noise, sounds like a strut mount, I had to replace one on my V70 and it sounded very similar, it is about a $30 part and very easy to install, if I can find the time this week I will do it before the auction ends. The paint is in great shape, I really can't think of anything you need to do to this car, for the price I can't imagine you could find anything much better! Feel free to ask any questions On Jul-24-12 at 08:00:05 PDT, seller added the following information:I was just informed that this S70 might be a T5 version because of the wheels which were offered only on the T5's. I checked under the hood and the engine code is in fact a B5234T which makes it a T5! Here is what Wikipedia says about the T5: "The S70 continued the tradition of Volvo's exploration of its high-performance five-cylinder high-pressure turbocharged engines known commonly as the "T5". Volvo's initial ethos of the T5 was to produce an engine that would give serious performance when needed while also giving unparalleled reliability and solidness from a high powered turbocharged engine. A new larger Mitsubishi 16T turbocharger was incorporated into the new design, giving an adequate power improvement to the 850 engine. There were two engine options available: the ultra rare 2-litre B5204T3 (originally only produced for the Italian market for tax purposes) producing 230 hp (172 kW) and the 2.3-litre B5234T3 producing 240 hp Aside from top end speed, due to the difference in bore and torque, both offered practically identical performance with the manual version of the B5234T3 S70 capable of accelerating to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just under 6 seconds and with a maximum speed of 155 mph."On Jul-25-12 at 19:44:33 PDT, seller added the following information:Just realized there aren't any pictures of the passenger side of the car where the damage was! For some reason some pictures were doubles and I can't add any now that I have bids. If you would like pictures please send me a message and I will email them to you, not trying to hide anything, the passenger side looks good.
