This car has been in our family approx. 30yrs. and we have treated it like a baby, like a part of the family. The gentleman who owned the car before me had it for approx. 10 yrs. and also babied it. To my knowledge, this car has not seen rain in the past 40 yrs. The original owner had the car for approx. 15 yrs. and early on , drove it as an every day vehicle to and from work. After checking the identification numbers, I found the car to be a 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4, built at the Longbridge Plant during April of 1957. Original Pa. title date of 4-18-57. The car was later registered as a 1959, the year it was actually sold and shipped from the factory when it was new. It was quite common to place the year of the initial sale on a new car's title whether it was built during that year or not. The car didn’t have seat belts from the factory because they were not required back then, but I mounted one on the passenger’s side. An appraiser told me, “The true value of a car like this is strictly up to the individual and how much someone is willing to invest in its future value. It will not depreciate, but only increase in value as the years go by. BELOW FIND AN APPRAISER’S REPORT FROM 14 YRS. (Nascar) Differentials: Healey H.D. 4:10 gears Curb Weight: 2170 lbs. Appraiser Status: Class Two - Very Good Condition This car is well restored with an eye for detail and balance. The interior and exterior show minimal wear and it runs and rides smoothly inspite of the very powerful drive train for its class and vintage. The car shows it has been driven very little in relation to the age. This class is a slight grade below Class One. This Class Two vehicle has not been detailed to the extent that a Class One has been. (suspension and frame not detailed) Shows normal under carriage oil / grease marks, but nothing excessive. Frame is sound. Has some evidence of use and wear, although not very much. Definite show quality. Not street legal in some states due to emissions and visibility laws. Recommendation: Register title as “Street Rod” - “Exotic.” - “Collectible Auto.“ (shows - car clubs - etc…for pleasure use only) Vehicle @ $26,500 to $28,800 Drive Train @ $9,500 to $11,200 Overall value including originality & theme: $36,000 to $42,000 *********************************************************************************************************************************** (end of report) The body is approx. 55 years old and is not designed for high speed racing. The aerodynamics of the body will not keep the car stable. Keep in mind the original car was only designed to go 100 - 105 MPH. The car has a few minor imperfections in the paint which are pictured. The passenger side rear wheel brake cylinder showed leaking from age but has been replaced with a new one. There is an extra new cylinder for the other side if necessary in the future. NOTE: Many of the photos are from right out of storage before any cleaning. The car has been in my house garage which is heated and has A/C. The car is being prepped and cleaned during the auction and new pics will be added as taken. A car like this doesn’t depreciate over the years, it gains value like an investment property. If I can't find the right new owner I will part it out. Engine - Blower - Carbs - Trans - Rear - Hood - Doors - Trunk - Body Parts - etc...etc... That's a fact. I’ll make more money then selling as is. But the car must go. I am getting too old for these kind of cars and being on disability makes it too hard to enjoy. Being sold as is. The car isn't perfect, but it's better than many others I've seen sold for more money than what my reserve is. EXTRAS: Have old rag-top hardware. Extra differentials with 5:25 gears. Extra new fender welts. Extra cut out hood with insert. Extra new rear brake cylinder. FAULTS - BLEMS: The “block off” plate gasket where the mechanical fuel pump was mounted showed some leaking due to one of the bolts being stripped. A stronger steel plate was put on to replace the aluminum plate, with a thicker gasket and silicone sealer. The bolt hole needs to be drilled out and re-tapped. I don’t have the time so I put a small “c-clamp” on that corner of the plate and it seems to be fine. Driver’s door paint chip - top (see photo) Front left repair around head light (see photo) Front crack at corner of grille (see photo) Paint blem on front left fender (see photo) Non-refundable deposit of $500 required within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment required within 10 days of auction end. Payments accepted through paypal - certified bank check - money order - cash. In other words, when I get the money, you get the car. It’s that simple. Please contact me before the auction ends if you have any issues on deposits or payments. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Approx. 9,700 BN4 Healeys produced between 1956-1959 There were only “329” BN4 100-6 Austin Healeys built and titled in 1957 THIS IS ONE OF THEM WHERE ARE THE REST??? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my first time selling an auto on ebay. This is the main body. "Aluminum" The fenders - trunk lid - hood (or "bonnet" as called in Britian) are steel. NOTE: Actually the top or roof is called the "Hood" in Great Britain. Gets a little confusing sometimes. I hope this helps.
