Bringing Classic and Collectable Car Buyers & Seller Together Worldwide 1953 MD TD Completely original survivor 57,229 Original miles Barn Find (writen by owner) Original and solid 1953 MG TD (second series) in barn find condition. This is a Connecticut car for decades and was recently discovered in a barn and is now being made available for the first time in many years. The car is a solid rust free original good enough to be rehabbed and driven as is or ideal for a low cost restoration as it is complete and very solid. We have done some servicing to the car but some additional servicing is strongly suggested if you are going to drive the car as is. The engine was obviously rebuild very shortly before going into storage. While there are no receipts, it is obvious both in terms of its presentation and overall running condition. The oil has been changed, engine tuned up and the entire fuel system has been run through and fresh gas added. The car starts excellently, has perfect compression and idles normally as well. The transmission is excellent and shifts smoothly through all gears. We replaced the clutch as well and it is perfect with less than ten miles on it since completion. The old clutch slipped and required the replacement. We put brand new tires on it as well. We did not touch the brakes or suspension and strongly suggest at least a detailed inspection of both areas prior to taking it on any extended drive. The car was yard driven only to assess needs and deal with the aforementioned mechanical issues. The body is original with mostly original paint, chrome and trim. It has not been messed with but there are some areas where paint was reapplied…it is obvious even in the pictures. The underside is solid, original and rust free. There is no indication of any accident damage ever on the car. The car comes with a replacement top and original top and side curtains. It still carries its last registration from the early 1970’s. The garage it was stored in was dry and cool. This car can be enjoyed as-is with only a little more attention of could be the ideal starting point for a restoration that should not be too costly as the mechanical’s are excellent and the body and frame are great solid originals. Please feel free to call with any questions. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged for the duration of the auction. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is due at the end of the auction.
