1998 Trooper.I purchased this vehicle new in June 98. It has never been in an accident. Maintenance schedule rigorously followed: differential, transfer case, transmission fluids changed with Mobil 1. Runs well, 4wd works well. Newer ball joints, front wheel bearing grease, shocks, thermostat, serpentine belt, brake pads, fresh coolant, oil, power steering lines etc, timing belt changed at 75K. Runs strong. AC and heat work great. Has a trailer hitch and wiring and I still pull small trailers with it. It has 14 years of dings, a few scratches etc. Things to note: The driver's window does not go down (electric motor is fine but the plastic tab on the bottom of the window broke so I braced the frame with the window up) ABS light is on but the brakes work fine, Check Engine light is lit, the OBD threw a EGR valve code, I cleaned the EGR valve and it temporarily cleared, it's back, the parking brake does not work, I always park in reverse gear. The tires will need to be changed before winter but they will get you home. Like ALL TROOPERS this one uses oil. Check it every other fill and you'll be fine. There is some rust on the back door, the down side of living in a state that salts the roads. The 4WD indicator blinks when 4wd is engaged but the 4wd works just fine, guaranteed! There is a crack along the bottom of the windshield. I had to add a quick link to the hood opening latch, for some reason the lever wouldn't throw far enough to release the hood, but this way works. The replacement muffler I put on it a little louder than the stock one. So I've told you everything because I want you to know as much as possible. Some less honest ebays might clear the check engine, not tell you about all the nits I've brought up, but then you'd show up and be bummed. And that wouldn't make me or you happy. This is a very reliable, comfortable truck that I would drive across the country today if I had to. I want you to be away of all the issues with this truck as I want everyone to be happy.
