Vehicle Detail
Many years in the making, this car was built by a local upohlsterer and never completly finished. It was built in the early 1980's to resemble a 50's stlye build with more of an east coast flair. From the front: Freched headlights, 55 Pontiac front bumper sections, custom grill opening, hand made tube grill with clear plastic tubes on the ends so the marker lights can shine through. The hood is completly reworked. the lead edge has been brought out, nosed, decked and sectioned. Hood opens forward with power release. The roof is from a 54 Mercury stock height 53 Victoria windshield but the rest has been lowered and custom formed. The back window is a glass convertable stlye that un zips and folds down to lay on the package tray. The door handles are shaved and has hidden switches. Real working vintage spot lights. The rear fender skirts are very cool, they look like they are part of the car, fit up tight to the stainless side trim. The rear quarters have been stretched about 12 inches. The filler panel between the quarters is seemless and holds for the most part a stock 55 Chevy continetal kit. Spare tire is located inside. Trunk latch is power and hidden. The interior is white wide pleats with marroon piping. Dash is dark maroon metallic. Tilt/Telescpoic steering column, 6 way power seat. Custom door glass is custom made to fit the new roof. Doors are now hardtop stlye. Windows are power. Electric windshield wipers work well. The inteior was finished shortly after the car was built in the 80's. It was never sat in untill I bought the car this year. It needs carpet. The engine is a 350 crate motor. New in the 80's. No miles untill this year. Engine block casting is: 10066086. I freshend the top of the motor up with a new Edelbrock aluminum intake and new Edelbrock 650 electric choke carb, New 140 amp chrome 1-wire alternator, and a new heavy duty radiator. It has a Nitrous Oxide system also. (Never used, bottles are empty) Trans is a TH350. I installed a Lokar throttle cable and mount. Also have Lokar kick down cable but not installed. It has dual exhaust with 2 new Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. It needs to be reworked closer to the floor pans so the car can sit lower to the ground. It has new air shocks in the rear. The car has a modified stock suspension. Still has king pins up front but is lowered but dropping the spring pockets in the lower a-arms. The rear has blocks on the factory leafs. So it drives like a lowered 50's car! The paint is very nice but there are a few small chips. This would be an easy car to paint black! The body is straight. Solid floors. Bumpers are straight and solid but chome is fair. The trim piece around the vent windows will need rechromimg. But side trim is perfect. This car was built by a gentleman with as much talent as the more well know car builders like George Barris and Gene Winfield. This car was not forsale and was never inteded to be sold by the builder but circumstances came up and I was in the right place at the right time to aquire this car. Body work is excellent and this car stands out wherever it goes. The custom bodywork could not be duplicated for under $25-30,000 today. The car runs and drives well. Just needs some minor finishing touches. Selling to fund other projects.
