Vehicle Detail
Up for sale (again) is my 1976 Porsche 911S Coupe. (Buyer backed out of the sale - lack of funds.) Yes, it actually has 63K original miles. Car has not ever been registered in California, so it does NOT have the smog equipment. The good: Engine was completely disassembled, re-gasketed and resealed by Cam McCracken (formerly of Maltby Motorsports) in February of 2012. Valves and rings were not done and car does not smoke or run hot. At the same time a brand new, high performance clutch was installed as well. It does drip a small amount of oil every so often, but it's a Porsche. If it's not dripping oil....it's out of oil. Current Compression: Cylinder #1 = 135, Cylinder #2 = 145, Cylinder #3 = 150, Cylinder #4 = 145, Cylinder #5 = 140, Cylinder #6 = 140 Interior has been just about completely redone, if needed. Most of it was pretty good when I got it, just needed deep cleaning. Driver's seat was reupholstered with matching leather. The boot has all new carpet as well. Car runs and drives fantastic. Just about everything that has ever been done to the car since 1997 has been documented. I will include it with the car. Note: I thought we had more information on the history than we were able to find. Lot of what was in the files was just information on how to replace parts. I have receipts from 1997 to present. Also selling with the car: Air conditioning compressor - not the kit, just the compressor. Never installed. Power window kit - new. Never installed. Has original roll up windows. Extra set of 1976 brake pads - unused. Current brakes are fine however. All glass on the car is original and in very good shape. Rear tires are good, front tires will need replacing soon. All lights work properly. Hazards, turn signals, fog & brake lights. The bad: Have you ever heard of a 20/20 car? Car looks great at 20 feet and 20 mph. She really needs a good paint job. She's pearl while (was originally Guard's Red). Whale tail was professionally repaired (was cracked) and repainted last Fall. Small rust spot on each door needs repair and paint. I don't have the expertise to attempt the paint work. Don't get me wrong, paint isn't that bad. But I think it's about 15 years old. Paint is just not concours. No radio / stereo / Ipod jack. Just the purr of the engine. E-brake light stays on. Gas gauge is not super accurate. To lift the hood, you have to push it slightly to the right. It keeps it from popping up 1/2 inch during hard cornering. This has been a fun project for me, but I really need to get something a little more practical for college. Car is just great fun to drive and always gets compliments. Please ask questions before bidding! If you have zero (0) feedback, please contact me before bidding.
