Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 2006 Scion xA, a model only made for a few years and replaced by the not-as-cool-looking xD. To me, the flint mica color exterior is more of a lighter shade of black than a dark gray. I bought this as a 1-owner used car on E-Bay Motors back in 2006, not new but from someone who had bought it new about half a year before. At the time, gas prices had skyrocketed (where they have stayed since), and the Scions had just come out on the market a year or so earlier. I test-drove one locally and was impressed with the headroom and the fact that I didn't feel cramped in such a small car after previously driving a Chrysler LHS. I went from getting 17-18 mph in my old car to 31-32 in this, saving quite a bit of money in gasoline. I remember at the time they were selling these in my local area new asking nearly $16,000, and I won my E-Bay auction for just under $11,000, the best deal I ever got on a car. It probably helped that the seller was just a normal person, like myself, not a car dealer; unlike that guy, I won't make the mistake of not setting a reserve price at trade-in value. But you can find some really good deals buying from individuals online, who are typically more willing to sell at lower prices than all of those car lots who sell on E-Bay now and won't sell below dealer retail value--but deals like this are far and few. Making this even a better purchase for me, I should point out this: This car has NEVER been in the shop for any problem other than changing the oil (at least every six months), changing tires (changed them all once), and changing the brake pads (did last year). It's never had any major mechanical problem or any electrical problem. It's never been in a wreck, either with me or before me. Why am I getting rid of the car you might ask? Well, I'm an attorney, who was just starting off my practice when I got this car, but now I'm making more money and more able to afford a gas guzzler. Also, my kids have become bigger and older (and more of them) and so there's a need for a bigger automobile. I recently bought an '09 Ford Edge online, so I need to sell this automobile. I typically run cars into the ground and drive them for 5 years or more, but such is not the case with this one. I've had it four and a half years, and it doesn't seem that long. Having had only 6 cars in my 39 years of living, it's #2 out of 6 that I am selling not because it's starting to break down but in perfect mechanical condition simply because I'm tired of it and am able to drive a higher-end car. However, I should note that if you haven't test-driven a Scion, do so locally and then turn around and buy this one, if you're interested. The engine has more pep than you would think. It's more roomy than you would think (this is considerably wider than the xD which replaced it). The road noise and wind noise are, well, almost non-existent in comparison with most SUVs. For you older people, don't think Geo Metro...this is way better. I've had 2 kids in carseats in this car at the same time, and both of the carseats fit easily into the car. Also, there are the childproof door locks, where you just handflip a lever with either backdoor open and you childproof it where the backdoors don't open unless you unlock it from the outside, and this is a cool optional feature that you can easily turn on and off. Cons with this car: There is no cruise control (but I got used to that); being 6 years old, there are some minor scratches here and there on the exterior and interior; the seats are cloth and not leather (I know this is normal and no Scions have leather seats, but I'm typically a leather seat guy and just wanted to point that out); there is no sunroof, and I don't know if this model of Scion ever came with that as an option and my new automobile doesn't have one, but I know many people want that as an option; there is no keyless entry, and you have to insert the key and turn to the right to get the doors to unlock; the CD players doesn't work, and I got a CD stuck in there that could probably be removed although I've never tried hard or had it professionally removed, but the speakers sound fine, as did my external-on-dash Sirius radio which I later had installed and comes with it (without a Sirius subscription), and I didn't miss the CD player these last few years as I would typically listen to tunes on my Iphone via bluetooth; inside the car in the middle of the backseat there is a roughly 3"x1.5" area that appears smooshed and darker in the cloth, and I'm not sure if my kids had some gummy bears that melted there or what, but while I could not get it out with my own cleaning job, hopefully it would disappearing with good detailing. I assure you my little critters didn't do any other real damage, and the car looks alright. Also, I am not a smoker and nobody has ever smoked in the car. On the mileage, I should note that I have let one person test-drive the car and I too have driven it once to the local car wash since taking a picture of the mileage, so we are now over 87,000; and, as a few more people may test drive it locally, I will simply say that the mileage may be as high as 88,000 versus the mileage shown but will not be more than that at the time of sale. As to shipping, I will not pay or arrange for someone to ship it to you. You should check out uBid.com or simply run a search on a search engine for "ship auto" or "transport auto," and I can assure you that there are sites (kind of like the comprehensive insurance broker sales sites) where you can type in your information and you will have several potential auto transport shippers contact you with quotes to ship the car. These people contact me and arrange when and where to pick up the car; and then they tell you when they are on the way and call you when they're close to make sure you or someone else is there to deliver the car. It might seem like a pain, but it's really quite simple and there is quite a bit of competition. I have bought 4 cars on E-Bay Motors in the last 4 years for my family and have found E-Bay motors is a great way to buy a car, and you can find one with the colors and features you like without being limited to those available locally in some horrible color, like blue, that you don't like; even though not a luxury car, a black car like this one seems to almost always look fancy. Every car I've ever bought online I had shipped to me and paid in a range between $300 and $800 for them to be shipped, typically depending on the shipping distance and the size of the car and how big of a hurry you are in to get it. I bought this car online out of Florida, and I paid someone about $600 to ship it from there to Oklahoma. They had picked it up and delivered it to me within two weeks after the auction ended; so while I cannot guarantee or be responsible for anything as to shipment, there are many shippers out there and you can find a good deal. Finally, WINNING BIDDER MUST PAY $500.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT WITHIN 24 HOURS OF END OF AUCTION, and the remainder of the balance is due in full within no more than the SOONER of the time when your shipper picks up the car or 10 days after the end of the auction. There is no financing on this, as I'm not a dealer. As to the deposit and the balance, you need to either pay either by (a) mailing a money order or cashier's check or by wiring funds into my bank account, or (b) by PayPal for an additional 3% of final auction price additional fee; or (c) by VISA or Mastercard for an additional 3% of final auction price additional fee--yes, as I own a business (not a car business), I do have a credit card machine and can accept payment by VISA or Mastercard directly, although if you have one, you will probably opt to pay by PayPal. The reason for the extra 3% is because, of course, PayPal takes approximately that much out of the sales proceeds received and the same thing as to my credit card machine (For example, if the car sells for $7,000, that's an additional $210). If you have any questions, feel free to ask. So if you don't pay in full sooner than the time of pickup, you should make sure whomever picks up the car, whether it's you or someone else, has with them a cashier's check, money order, cash, or working debit/credit card with full funds to pay at that time. The same thing is true as to the transfer of title; it won't happen until I am paid in full, I will do my best to cooperate and work with you to ensure smooth transfer of title on my part. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
