AUCTION ENDS THURSDAY, JULY 5th at 8PM Pacific Coast Time. Texas truck since new. Brought here to Oregon in 1997 by the 2nd owner and left in the garage/barn ever since. Cute is the most honest and accurate word to use when describing this truck. One of the most rust-free and solid examples anyone will find. Primarily in original condition with some tasteful upgrades. All original body with correct colors and factory Custom Cab moldings and trim. Much of the interior has been done with a few custom touches but maintains an authentic 1960's appearance. The drivetrain is sound and the 292 Y-block V-8 runs very well. I am thinning out the truck portion of my collection. This '64 F-100 Custom Cab and my '67 Econoline Pickup that I'm also selling on eBay at the same time are both very neat little trucks. My father had a stroke a few years ago at 60 years old and I'm making room in my garage for some of the cars he's owned since my childhood. I'm going to focus more time and energy on them. This Ford Short Bed will make someone a fun truck. She's not done to Concourse level or show quality by any means but always a People's Choice pleaser and brings a smile to absolutely everyone's face. Full details below:The body is rock-solid and the bed is one of the nicest anyone will find. It appears as if it almost never hauled anything. The entire body is impressively straight. My explorations have discovered no abuses of bondo or other body fillers. The Two-Tone turquoise and white paint was redone around the late 1980's. A good mid-range job was done at that time. Some light touch-up's here and there. Again, not perfect but the truck shows and presents itself very well. There are some paint chips and nicks from the limited use the truck has had over the years and there are close-up photos below. Both chrome bumpers are very nice with some slight fading on the rear. Stainless moldings and exterior trim are original and in good shape. All glass is nice and I am currently having the windshield and seal replaced. Ever with her minor blemishes and imperfections she is still visually attractive and a very pretty truck. The photos show her accurately. Very much a head-turner and compliments are non-stop every time I take her out.I recently had much of the interior restored. The seat, door panels and headliner were professionally done in colors that match the two-tone exterior. The rubber floor mat and dashboard are original. Even the original AM radio is still in-place (not working). There are 2 Stewart Warner gauges nicely mounted and working perfectly at both sides of the speedometer. The factory temperature gauge functions and the gas gauge works intermittently so it will need attention. Speedometer, lights, wipers, brake lights, heater fan and turn signals all operate. The turn signals do not self-cancel and the horn does not work. The interior is very nice and can be enjoyed just like it is or spend a little time detailing the dashboard and take credit for that cosmetic detail. Taking the insides to the next level will be an easy and inexpensive task with rewarding results. I wanted to leave you something to take credit for!I believe the engine is original to the truck. It is a solid lifter 292 Y-block V8 that runs and performs very well. Smooth running with good throttle response and excellent oil pressure. She starts easily. Just pull the choke and go. No abnormal noises or excessive smoke of any kind. Other than the maintenance I had done I have no history on the engine regarding repairs or rebuilds. The previous owner passed away in 2009. I had lots of service work done just last month. The fuel system has been gone through, carburetor rebuilt, oil changed, distributor upgraded to electronic style with no points and the entire braking system has been gone through. All linings, wheel cylinders, hoses, etc, have been replaced. The master cylinder has been upgraded to a dual-reservoir from a 1967 GMC. A proportioning valve was also installed. I did not pinch pennies on this. She stops on a dime. I also had a new dual exhaust system installed and she sounds amazing. Front suspension and steering seem original and I would recommend having it inspected before a long road-trip. She drives fine and the tires are brand new but I wanted to keep an original appearance so the wide white wall tires are bias-ply Firestones, not radials. They do grab ruts in the road and anything above 55mph requires your attention. These are simple trucks and I'm sure it's just worn bushings. The 3 speed manual transmission has been completely rebuilt and I have that $1000 receipt. It shifts great and the gears are quiet. The rear-end is original and working perfectly. There are typical minor fluid drips on my garage floor but nothing out of the ordinary or anything that needs immediate attention. Bottom line: Motor, transmission, rear-end and brakes are tight and sound. Our weather has been nice recently here in Portland and I have been enjoying taking her places locally. In fact, she is 1 of 5 members from my collection that have been asked to attend a large 4th of July Parade. Everyone loves this truck and I'm looking forward to it. I will make brief comments under many of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Ford in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the truck clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the truck for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Thursday evening, the 5th of July at 8PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the truck becomes no longer available. If you are outside of the UNITED STATES or CANADA, you MUST contact me prior to bidding. If you are new to eBay or have a (0) or low transaction score, you must also contact me before bidding. Everyone, PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable and kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my little F-100. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see 2 days before my auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my truck and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. HAPPY 4th OF JULY. Thanks for your time, DAVE I really enjoyed the time I spent detailing the engine compartment. t I took some liberties regarding the interior but I had my own ideas of how I wanted it to look. Still has an authentic 1960's stock look with slight custom touches. I hope my tastes appeal to most of you. The wheels and tires were also my personal choice for the truck. They are 15 inch steel rims that I had color matched to the red in the side trim. Center caps and rings are new. The tires are also new. They are 7.50X15 Firestone's. I took this photo while driving to show the only dent the truck has. It is in the very center of the hood and only visible from the right angle. a She couldn't be a better color combination. Very pretty truck. Front bumper, grille and all bright-work is very nice. Please note: The windshield and rubber seal are currently being replaced. af a Looking down the sides is impressive. She is extremely straight. No waviness or washboard effect. Tailgate is near MINT! a a a a a . . . Other than the very minor roof edge corrosion that is shown just a few photos down, she is one of the most solid and rust-free originals you'll find. Even the lower areas are excellent. . . There are 3 very small drilled holes on the bed rails. They are matching side to side. I'm not sure what they were for. Done many, many years ago. Little touched-up blems mentioned earlier. . . Small touch-up under gas cap. Can only be seen if your nose is inches away. . This area at the tail gate hinges is almost always where rust forms. NOT on this Texas truck. They are excellent. . Resided in Leander Texas all of it's life until coming to Oregon in 1997. . . . . . Little paint chip behind right door. Small paint flaws on right front fender. NO dents, just minor paint blems. The story of how these happened is hard to believe but I have a picture that proves it and forget to provide it in this layout. A full-size dump truck was parked without setting the brake. It rolled down the hill and absolutely destroyed one half of the large garage she parked in. The small ding on the hood and the scratches were all that happened. It's a great picture and I'll make sure the next owner has a copy. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The only rust to be found on the truck is on the drivers side roof edge and rain gutter. It is isolated to this area and is minor. I find no evidence, even on close inspection, of any previous repairs to this area. It is minor and easily rectified. Truck is incredibly solid throughout. . . . . . . The years and Texas sun have dried the door weather seals. They are readily available and inexpensive all over the internet. I intended to replace them but it slipped my mind. Another easy improvement you can take credit for. Rock-solid! . . . . . . . . . . The heater box has been rebuilt and the blower fan works correctly. The heater hoses need to be ran. I only looked away from the road for a second. . Impressive 48 year old original condition. All gauges work. The fuel gauge being the only exception. It works sometimes. . . Only gentle use it's whole life. Some wear showing at mountings but one of the nicest cargo areas I've ever seen. . . Unheard of to be this solid. . . . . Updated brake master and proportioning valve. . . . . . The way the factory ran the exhaust under the engine compartment was the dumbest thing any of us have ever seen. I'm sorry FORD but, come on! Normally, the drivers side exhaust would come right across the front of the motor and tie into the passenger manifold. Really stupid design. Now she is set-up as true dual exhaust exiting each side. . . . . She is solid underneath. . Some light surface scale from sitting untouched in the barn all those years but very solid undercarriage. . . Dry and solid. . . . . Even the backsides of the fenders are gorgeous. . . . . . It is actually hard to say goodbye to this truck. As I wrote this description and looked closely at all of the photos, I started to feel guilty. She is so cute and so unique and has been a pleasure to have around. Just sitting with the other members of my collection, it's nice to know she's there. Even parked next to the Hemi 'Cuda and '57 T-Bird, she is still one of the first vehicles people walk to. I think we all have at least a small soft-spot for the vintage trucks. Deserves the right home. Thanks again- _____________________________________________________________ Terms of Sale: 48yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my truck honestly and to the best of my ability based on over 25 years of owning and driving classic vehicles. I have faith in the drivability of this vehicle and to my knowledge everything is in good working order per my written description above. I have free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I have been driving and enjoying the truck here locally on nice days but she is 48 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected due to her age. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the truck for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info for my transporter at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1200.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. IMPORTANT DETAILS I appreciate the bids and trust of all eBay members but, if you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
