Vehicle Detail

1970 Buick GS 455 Convertible - Georgia Title, runs and drives but needs finishing work and body and interior to reach its full potential. Assembled in Fremont, vin 446670Z****** Build sheet, protecto plate and original owner's manual included. My understanding is no Sloan documentation available for this car due to date and location of manufacture, sources indicate this may be a very early in the production run car. Build sheet from under the seat indicates a true GS455 convertible, not a Skylark, options equipped from the factory included TH400 transmission, bucket seats, long console, floor shifter, gauges, tachometer, windshield antenna, side moldings, power windows, air conditioning, power steering, remote mirror, power disc brakes, cruise control, and more. Motor is a non VIN number matching but correct 1970 vintage date coded block and heads 455, freshened with new bearings, a 'mild' GSCA cam and springs, new GM lifters, topped with an Edelbrock Performer manifold, TA performance headers, and mild 600 cfm carb for break in purposes. Stock date coded intake, stock cast iron exhaust manifolds, and date coded Q-jet included with car. Stock distributor on the car, has pertronix upgrade. Original TH400 was rebuilt and new stock stall speed converter installed. Car presently runs and drives VERY strong, as even a stock Buick should. This car has been worked on at various points over ten years with less than 200 miles put on the car during that time. Suspension was fully rebuilt with all new components, Coil springs, front upper and lower control arm bushings, new tie rods, center link and idler arm, new upper and lower balljoints, new shocks all around, upgraded to GM rear lower boxed control arms plus aftermarket rear sway bar, new Goodrich 225/60 radial TA's on 15 inch Buick Rally rims. (car stock with 14, inch rims original well used condition included with sale). Body to frame bushings and hardware replaced. Front and rear brakes rebuilt with all new components, stainless steel brake lines, new rotors, etc. Some parts, while having less than 200 road miles could use a repaint or detail work. Convertible top needs replacement . New lift cylinders and lines have been rough installed in the car, but final assembly with the original pump needs to be completed. Original interior is present except for carpet which was removed due to condition. Floor boards very solid, with minimal surface rust. Known history is that car was originally sold in Phoenix, Arizona and remained in Arizona until 1989, then brought to the Southeast. Trunk has some issues from what appear to be old solvent spill but mostly very solid. Body needs repaint overall and has a few obvious issues requiring more attention. Front left fender has dent on top from being run into a workbench, otherwise, was solid original fender. Rear quarterpanel on drivers door has old bondo repair and peeling paint from ancient bodywork. Each wheel well has a few of the typical a body rust spots. Base of windshield has some visible areas that needs attention as well. Fenders are decent for a driver but could use rechroming, rear has some dents. Wheels very nice for their age and for a driver, but not perfect. Engine accessories all replaced, rebuilt and powdercoated hood hinges, new gas tank, new radiator, all new A/c components including modern multi-piston high efficiency compressor, new parking brake cables, floor shifter rebuilt with extensive work done to locate and assemble shifter components, new front and rear wiring harness for lighting, new engine and air conditioning harness. New headlights included, lighting needs to be installed. The original rusted out core support was replaced with a NOS piece obtained at auction (0ver $1,000 for purchase and powdercoating), the passenger inner fender was replaced with a solid one obtained from an Arizona junkyard, both inner fender wells and the core support were blasted and powdercoated for durability of finish. EXTRA ITEMS - stock parts as noted (Q-jet, intake and exhaust manifolds, wheels) above PLUS there is a spare used windshield, wrapped and in storage, condition unknown but presumably still unbroken..........
