Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1996 Purple Firebird Formula. It comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and the 5.7 litre 8-cylinder engine. It has dark colored glass removable T-Tops. This car runs great, and has lots of power. I have owned this car for 11 years and have taken care of it well with regular oil changes and other routine maintenance. The body is a little rough in places. There is a dent next to the gas filler where I ran into it with our Suburban's rear bumper (the Suburban won). There are also a few scratches and places where the clear coat is pealing off (see pictures). Other than the dent, the body is straight, it has never been in an accident, and it is in overall good shape for a 16 year old car. The interior is in very good shape - just one small tear in the leather on the driver's seat for wear. The other seats are all in good shape, as are the carpets and mats. The A/C blows nice and cold. The radio and CD player work fine. The car currently has practically brand new Blizzaks installed (about 2K miles on the Blizzaks) - these tires make the car quite drivable in the winter snow. I've used them for 7 years in the Colorado foothills where we get snow 8 months of the year and never had a problem. Included are the original 4 rims with summer tires mounted - although these tires are worn and shouldn't be used much more. It will need new tires for summer driving as Blizzaks will wear very quickly in hot weather and you want to save them for snowy weather. Recent repairs include a new A/C compressor (just last fall at 126K miles), and new clutch (around 110K miles). Oil was last changed about 2K miles ago. I replaced the rear brakes when I had a rear seal start leaking. Also, the rear diff fluid was changed at the same time (at about 124K miles). Front brakes have not been replaced since I owned the car, but still have about 25% life left on them. I have new front brake shoes and rotors which I will include with the car so you can replace them when you need to. Spark plugs and wires were replaced at around 95K. Mechanically the car runs great, and has no known problems. The clutch works great and the transmission shifts properly. This is a very fast car with the manual transmission and the 8-cylinder engine. It is a lot of fun to drive. I'm sorry to see it go, but after 11 years and a family, it's time for someone else to enjoy this wonderful car. I have lots of pictures and can take more, please email me if you would like to see more pictures. PLEASE NOTE: I just noticed a very small oil leak. It has leaked about a quarter size spot of oil on some cardboard in the garage where it has been parked the last week or so. I wanted to let everyone know so you could take it in account when you bid and won't be surprised! Again, if you have any questions, please ask.
