Vehicle Detail

This is a very good condition, running and driving, straight and very solid Dodge! It is ready to get in and go to shows and cruise ins, with its original color repaint, original upholstery in very, very good condition, and its beautiful wood grained and chrome deco dash! Overall this Dodge is in great condition. The body is straight and rust free. The car was repainted in its original beautiful burgundy color several years ago, at which time new door rubber gaskets and fender welt were installed, and the Dodge has always been garaged since then (it has been garaged for the over 20 years that I have owned it, and must have been garaged most if not all of its life, given the lack of rust, and the great condition including). The paint overall looks great and is very presentable, but on close inspection you can see some chips or crazing in small areas. The only small areas of rust are in the front floors and rockers near the doors, but it is not extensive and had been repaired many years ago; the rest of the floors, the frame, the fenders are all rust free. The bumpers were rechromed when the car was painted, including the bumper guards and the front grill guard. Most of the trim on the car is stainless, which is in great shape, even the grill, and the chrome (taillights, brake light, hood ornament and door handles) are in very good condition, though they do have some pitting after 65 years! The Dodge emblems on the trunk and above the grill are in very good shape! The interior of the Dodge is amazing, and probably one of the best original interiors that I have seen on this vintage Dodge. The chrome and wood grained-dash and window moldings are beautiful and in excellent condition with some wear on the glove box door and lower front window frame moldings. It is so hard to find these that are not much more worn or even rusted. Even the original bakelite/early plastic accessory control knobs on the dash are in beautiful, excellent condition... and even the original windshield wiper control, located in the sun on the top of the dash, is very good! And the dash lights work (as do the exterior lights except the drivers' parking light, I just noticed this while taking photos for the listing, and the optional accessory turn signal switch is not connected or working). The gages all work except the speedometer/odometer (I have disconnected them as the unit will need to be rebuilt, and the actual miles on the car are unknown, although based on the condition of the original seats the mileage can not be very high). The door panels were replaced many years ago and look good other than small worn through areas of material on the front armrests that you may want to recover (the armrest themselves are in good shape), but the original seats and headliner are in absolutely amazing condition... it is so hard to find these mohair seats that have not been long ago replaced with incorrect (and no longer available) material. These seats were covered much of their life and look great... the front has some staining that you can see in the photos, and a very small worn threadbare area on the front of the cushion near the driver's knee (and which doesn't show), and the back looks beautiful. Originally, the Deluxe model Dodge had a rubber floor mat in the front and a very low-knap 'mouse fur' carpet in the back; the front mat had been removed at some point many years ago and now has just a floor mat over jute, but the rear carpet is original. The Dodge starts, runs, and drives very nicely. I have maintained her over the years, and have had a lot of work done over the last two years including new brakes and exhaust, rebuilt carburetor, choke, and starter, tune up, fluid drive fluid checked and topped off, and most recently a new battery. It starts right up and runs great. I have only driven the Dodge locally in the last several years, and while it has been fine on local drives, I have not driven it long distances. Dodges uniquely had a fluid drive with manual shift... so you get the smooth fluid coupling with the benefit of controlling your shift without the semi-automatic solenoid issues! The Dodge rides more smoothly than any new car... as they advertised, 'the smoothest car afloat'! I have described the Dodge to the best of my knowledge; if you have any questions, please ask, and/or arrange to inspect the car. It is a wonderful car that you will enjoy driving and showing and can work on small details at your leisure. I have clear title in my name, and will transfer title once funds for payment in full have cleared. A $500 nonrefundable deposit is due via Paypal within 24 hours of auction end, and the balance is due in cash or US Post Office money order within 3 days of auction end. I can store the cars indoors for a brief period, but the buyer is responsible for making all transport and pick up arrangements (I will be available to assist). I reserve the right to sell the Dodge locally and end the auction.
