1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 HO Convertible NO LESS THAN 32 FACTORY OPTIONS Factory YW code 400 engine Factory TH-400 PY code transmission Factory ZB code 2.56 Positraction rear end Factory Color: Pink Mist (SPECIAL) on trim tag Celebrity Owned $5,287.36 NEW MOST HIGHLY OPTIONED 400 HO CONVERTIBLE IN EXISTANCE This vehicle was a special order Pink Mist fully loaded Firebird 400 HO originally owned by Nancy Sinatra ordered by John Delorean. Provenance of this is evident by research of documents from Delorean to Epsteen Pontiac in Chicago, indicating the vehicle was destined for Ms. Sinatra. Inquiries to the Sinatra camp confirmed options but could not give any further information due to the passage of time. However, knowing her vehicle was a Pink Mist 400 HO convertible and the knowledge that there were 4 pink mist convertibles built, and this being the only HO, I'm pretty confident in it's provenance. A copy of the PHS billing history is included with highlighted options on the order form PHS shows a Georgia delivery, albeit the car was delivered to Chicago per my research. Inquiries to previous owners for further information have become futile. I can only confirm what I recieved with the vehicle. The car has the original YW code engine, correct #16 heads, correct intake manifold, correct factory long branch exhaust manifolds with 15 degree oil filter adapter. It has the original PY code TH-400 transmission, and the correct ZB code 2.56 posi rear end. Obviously this car was originally Pink Mist, PHS . It's in beautiful shape, The hood shows evidence of the factory ram air set up, that was in the trunk, pirated just before my aquisition of the vehicle. The carburetor is not original to the car...but it appears everything else is. The car appears to have been painted once, years ago...Bordeaux Burgundy, it's driver quality enamel, with some orange peel, it's pretty obvious the prep work was not the best. However, there is no bondo on the car as far as I can tell. The floors appear to all be original to me, with absolutely no rust, as well as the trunk pan. The quarter panels appear to be original with no rust. The rear frame rails and shock towers are perfect. This car IS dry and appears to never have had a rust issue. In my opinion, the car has all the original body panels. The A/C does not work, I never even put the A/C belt on the car, but I would assume it would need to be overhauled. The radio is aftermarket but the dash has not been cut to recieve it. A aftermarket gauge pack sits above the console to moniter the invaluable original engines' vital signs. The original rally II wheels have been restored fully, with the original PMD center caps. The power top works effortlessly and the top is in good to excellent condition, with a clear back window. The top frame is completely rust free as is the rest of the car. The original 400 crackles to life effortlessly, transmssion shifts smooth, all front suspension componets have been replaced, along with all subframe mounts and bushings. All fuel and brake lines are new, as well as the original 4 piston calipers were rebuilt. The rear brakes were overhauled with new drums, shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware. The car runs at 180 degrees on a 90 degree day in traffic. The car tracks straight and drives true. All lights, signals, heater controls, power windows, fuel gauge, cigarette lighter receptical, dual stage wipers work as they should. The tilt wheel does not have any vertical or lateral movement. This car is DEAD relialbe, I would not question driving it 1000 miles tomorrow. This one has ALL the options, and is largely unmolested with it's #'s matching documented drivetrain. This car is ready to drive and enjoy, it leaks nothing, everything works, sans A/C...is solid as a rock...
