Vehicle Detail
This is a project vehicle that I started and have not finished for several reasons. It originally had a 2.9 V6 with a manual transmission. It now has a 1986 302 V8 Mustang engine in it. The truck has 81488 miles on it. The engine has 86,000 miles on it. I had a 2-wheel drive extended cab, carburaeted, manual with a V8 swap which we drove daily from 1990 to 2001. It was fun, reliable transportation. That is why I started this one. I haven't finished it because there was always another project of higher priority that took my time and money. Also, I hurt my back a few times and couldn't work on it. I bought a newer Ranger (4-door) to drive and have as a future project. So, we need the room and need the money, so this has to go. I'm going to list right now what you'll have to do to finish this truck--if you know your way around engines it's not that hard. (You just need a good, strong back; which I don't anymore). The electrical part is very doable with the Ford EVT Manuals (electrical, vacuum troubleshooting manuals) . A person can lay out the manuals for both the engine and the truck and match them up. As stated below, these manuals come with the truck. -Mount and install electric cooling fans. -Hook up the air conditioning -Hook up the accelorater cable -Hook up the TV cable (transmission kick-down cable) This is an AOD transmission and this MUST be hooked up so that the transmission will oil itself correctly -Hook up the remote oil filter -Install exhaust manifolds (or buy headers and install them) -Install exhaust -Hook up fuel lines to fuel rail on the engine -Hook up gauge and electrical wires -Personally, I would drop the fuel tank and clean it. (This has not moved since 1997 and the little gas that is in the tank is nasty) PLEASE READ ON, BUT UNDERSTAND THAT THIS TRUCK IS NOT RUNNING. THE ENGINE SPINS FREELY. IT HAS A CLEAR TITLE. THE FOLLOWING IS WHAT I HAVE INSTALLED ON THE TRUCK AND/OR WHAT COMES WITH IT: I put on a trans-adapt transfer case to transmission kit to run a 5.0 (302 push-rod motor) with an AOD transmission; you can use a stock Ranger transfer case and driveshafts.(AOD trans and ranger transfer case and driveshafts are already installed) . The transmission was completely rebuilt by a Ford mechanic, complete with a new torque converter. (I do not remember how much $$$ it cost) The new tachometer was sent to Chicago to be recalibrated to work with a V8. The speedometer is a new Ford Motorsport 140 mph speedo. (the speedo is brand new--please note picture, it shows 1 mile) The A-pillar has Ford Motorsport water temp and oil pressure gauges--brand new. It has new NAPA shocks and new front coil springs. It also has new NAPA front brake pads, not installed. The radiator is a Mustang II/Cobra II V8 radiator that is pressure-tested and installed. I used a like radiator in a previour V8 Ranger swap. I towed a lot of heavy, big stuff with it and hardly needed to run the cooling fans. It has 2 brand new cooling fans, not installed. I modified the grill opening to allow the AC condensor, radiator, and tranny cooler to all fit behind the grill. The exhaust manifolds are log-type manifolds and are not installed, but come with the truck. I used this type on a Bronco II swap. (you can buy brand new swap headders here on ebay for about $200.00) The are 2 new transmission coolers: 1 is a 36" mounted on the outside of the passenger side frame rail. The other is mounted vertically on the driver side of the grill opening. This is an XLT so it does have AC, Cruise, tilt, power brakes and power locks. It also has jumpseats. All the glass is good. I have the EVTM (Electrical-Vacuum-Troubleshooting Manual) for both the truck and the engine to assist someone finishing the wiring. . It has been in our garage since 1997. So, in the pictures, it is going to look dusty, as is the interior. (please note that the interior pictures that look like there are spots in the interiror; the spots are REALLY on the camera) As for the body: pictures will show dents on the left and right rear of the box caused by too-large tires put on by the previous owner. It also has a little rust on the passenger door down low (it's about a 3" circle) and on the driver's side fender. The corners of the cab under the windows are good; so are the rockers. Check out www.lmctruck.com for fenders, doors, and just a lot of parts not offered by Ford anymore for this truck. They have new fenders for $69.00. We expect the winner of this auction to contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements for payment and pick up. We can store the vehicle to up to a month (as long as a down payment or complete payment is made) in our garage, if the winner needs extra time for arrangements. The buyer is responsible for loading and transporting the vehicle. This is as low as it's going to go. I can piece it out for much more than this starting price. I URGE ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED TO EMAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS--THIS IS NOT THAT TOUGH AND COMES WITH MANY, EXPENSIVE PARTS.
