Vehicle Detail

Scout 80 12,500 miles, Excellent Restored, Factory Plow Description 1963 International Scout 80 4X4 with factory snow plow. History This vehicle was purchased new by a Mom & Pop Skelly Service station in south Minneapolis. It was used primarily to clear snow from the drive and run parts. When the owner died, it was stored in a warehouse for many years, until a friend of mine bought it from the family. He got it running and intended to restore it but after several years of sitting in his garage, he sold it to me. Condition Body When I got the truck the body was very solid but had some small dents and dings and some of the paint on the hood had failed. I had the body repaired and repainted with a base coat / clear coat urethane in the original metallic blue with a white top. The window frames were repainted the original light gray and new anti-rattle strips installed. The bumpers were painted silver as original, the front bumper is perfect, the rear had a bend in it which was straightened but it is not perfect, and had to be shimmed to fit properly. The grill is mint. The truck still has the T3 headlights. The floors are in excellent condition, no repairs were necessary, there was some minor surface rust under the mats but it was removed and sealed with epoxy primer. Window and door seals are in very good condition. Interior With the exception of new floor mats and a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling, the interior is original and in excellent condition. Drive train/Chassis The engine runs great and the transmission, transfer case and axles show no sign of any issues. When I got the truck the tail pipe was rotten and there was a hole in the muffler, so I installed a new reproduction exhaust system from the manifold back. The clutch master cylinder was leaking so it was replaced with a rebuilt unit. The drive belts were also replaced. The fuel fill hose from the cap to the tank had deteriorated and was replaced with a reproduction part. The brakes were inspected and show very little wear. There does not appear to be any leaks. The under hood has been nicely detailed. Tires/ wheels The truck still has all 5 original Goodyear Suburbanite 7.60 - 15 tires! There is a little cracking, but they have good tread and hold air. When was the last time you saw a 50 year old vehicle with the factory installed tires? The wheel covers are also original and near mint. Original tire changing tools have been cleaned and repainted. Snow Plow The truck is fitted with the factory plow, which is in excellent condition. The scraper blade and shoes show very little wear and the mounts also show little wear, no damage or any sign of repair. Just the same, the plow was completely disassembled, sand blasted, sealed with epoxy primer and finished with the correct Harvester Federal Yellow. The plow lift is in perfect condition, folds flat against the grill when not in use, and if you want to remove it, three bolts and one hose is all there is to it. I can easily remove and install the plow by myself with no tools. Some of the work done Body straightened and fresh base/clear repaint Interior roof repaint Window Frames Repainted Bumpers repainted New window seals (anti-rattle) Rebuilt clutch master cylinder New fuel fill pipe Fuel system cleaned Fresh tune-up Carb overhauled New valve cover gasket New belts Under hood detailed New voltage regulator New battery New battery cables New wiper blades New coolant New reproduction heater & vent ducts Snow plow sand blasted, sealed & painted & hardware replaced. I restored this Scout for myself, it was a fun project because I started with and excellent vehicle that had almost no wear, and didn’t have any rusted/seized hardware. Now it looks, runs, and drives as new. To the best of my knowledge, it needs nothing. I brought it to a car show last weekend and it drew a crowd. The reason I’m selling this truck is because I have a bad case of old car disease. I now have another project and need the money for that, and I’m also out of indoor storage (wife parking outside).
