Vehicle Detail
1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Coupe. This is an elegant automobile that always turns heads gets "wows" and thumbs ups. Overall condition of vehicle is fair. There is however, some issues. As shown in some of the pictures, rear fenders have some bubbling of paint, the right front fender has a ding above wheel well, front left fender also, needs attention. The trunk has issues on the right side where spare tire is stored. Floorboards are in good shape, no known issues. Engine fires up no problem. She'll cruise effortlessly at 70mph on the motorway. Power steering, and brakes no known issues. There is an electrical problem for some reason the dome, hazard lights will not work, if I replace the fuse it blows right away. The motor does leak oil, the A/C and radio are not working at this time. Glass is fair, chip in front windshield has been filled. Tires are in excellent condition. Mileage is unknown, odometer works intermittently. I was told by the former owner that the mileage was about "accurate". I cannot verify this but, knowing the former owner, he had two other cars. Odometer reads approximately 32,000 and due to it's age is mileage exempt. I am the second owner of the car. Smoke free interior. This is also, a rare "high grille model". With the introduction of the 3.5 litre V8 powered 280SE coupes and cabriolets in November of 1969, they received a lower, wider grille, and lower hood. The six cylinder cars cars also, received this change. The six and eight cylinder cars are indistinguishable, but for badging. A/C, Becker Radio, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, Leather Seats Production numbers for the 280SE coupes and convertibles is low. Total production was 3797 of which 1390 were convertibles. Standard production started in 02, 1968 and ended in 05, 1971 "It is a testament to Mercedes-Benz that these cars style and quality remains as admired and revered in the 21st century as it did when they were new. All these years later, arrival in one of these cars makes the same statements about taste, and it has to be said, wealth as it did when these cars were new".
