1966 Volkswagen Crew Cab! The VW Crew cab in my opinion is the most versatile Type 2 Volkswagens that someone can own. With the iconic styling of the split screen windshield and the ability to use it as a functional hauler it gives you the best of both worlds. The inside can seat five comfortably or in a pinch you can put another person up front. This bus has been use as my daily driver for many years. It does show some of the normal wear and tear that you would expect to see on any vehicle of this vintage. We are all use to seeing some various spots of cancer on these old work horses, this one does have some as well. It does not affect the ability to drive or enjoy your new vehicle and gives you the ability to make the updates as you wish, instead of spending years working on it before you get to take your first spin around the block. If you feel that you’d like to aim some efforts on these areas you’ll find yourself spending time with the usual suspects, such as the front floor, cargo floor, and the passenger door, while they aren't very bad compared to others I've seen they of course are worth mentioning. The dog legs, rockers, nose and frame are all very solid. As we look around this retro mobile you will see that it sports a nice hue of blue that was done many years ago. The paint is not "show quality" as the bus has some bumps, bruises and bubbles, however this bus does attract a lot of attention every where I drive it. I have installed a set of "Safari Front Windows" they are an older set from Bus Boys Inc. and give the bus a great look. For running gear the bus has a nice 1600 single port motor for reliablity and a straight axle type 1 transmission to give you that extra speed you need on the highway. I have added a set of lowered spindles to the front suspenstion to allow the bus to be lowered slightly, but have a comfortable ride. The bus has been upgraded to a 12 volt electrical system from the original 6 volt system that it left the factory with. This allows you to add your own electrical gadgets and not have to worry about any special converters. To make the inside as inviting as the outside I have installed a set salt and pepper colored front and rear seat covers from the famous TMI upholstery products line. I recently added some new reproduction door and headliner panels to finish off the interior. This allows a enjoyable ride for long trips out of town, Volkswagen shows, or the quick trip to the market.
