Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 73 SD-455 Trans Am with 36,000 miles. The car is numbers matching throughout and has all it's original sheet metal. I purchased the car in 2001 from, I believe, the third owner. I sold it to a friend in Florida in 2010 and bought it back this year. Please note that although this car has had a lot done to it, nothing was done with the intention of being a 100 point trailered show car. It was done to be a VERY nice driver quality car which is exactly the way it turned out. Options include power windows and locks, AM/FM stereo, 8 track tape, tilt wheel, deluxe interior, rear bumper guards and the hood bird. I have the car for sale elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. Please call 402-525-3979 with any questions as I don't check emails often. Body : The car had been painted many years before I bought it the first time and the paint was showing it's age. While in FL the car was cleaned underneath and the correct red oxide primer was applied. It then recieved a complete repaint in base/clear and it has a beautiful shine. The doors shut nice and all glass is good. As I mentioned above, all sheet metal is original. The car has no rust. The taillight lenses and bezels, headlight bezels, trunk weatherstrip and side marker lenses were replaced with new. The spoilers are all in great shape with no cracks. If I were to keep the car I would possibly replace the door and window weatherstrips. I think they're original and while they are in decent condition they doesn't look as fresh as most other areas on the rest of the car. Drivetrain : When I owned the car the first time I had the engine completely rebuilt and since the transmission was so easily accessible I took it out and had it gone through as well. The engine was actually running very well but during a tuneup an issue surfaced requiring immediate attention. The rebuild and dyno tuning of the engine was the basis for an article in High Performance Pontiac. http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/tech/hppp_0804_1973_trans_am_sd455_repair/viewall.html The rear differential has had the fluid changed and works perfectly. I went through the brakes, the radiator, the front suspension, replaced the shocks and put on new Goodrich Radial TAs during my first ownership. During the time in Florida the car recieved leaf springs and leaf spring bushings. Interior : Everything inside is original with the exception of the carpet which I replaced shortly after buying the car the first time. The front seats each have some separation on the bottom cushions and there are a couple flaws in the rear seat cushions. The seats are still original and nice enough that I wouldn't replace any of it. The door panels, rear side panels and sail panels are very nice. The dash is nearly perfect. The head liner is in perfect shape which makes me think someone has possibly redone it at some point before my first ownership. The gauges all work properly as well as the stereo, power windows and power locks. The trunk has had the spatter paint redone and the spare tire, jack and jack accessories are all in place. Overall, this is a very nice, rust free, numbers matching SD-455 Trans Am that can be driven any distance with confidence and will show very well at any car show or cruise night. Paperwork includes the PHS documentation, owners manuals and warranty papers. Buyer to pay $1000 within 24 hours of auction end with the remainder to be paid within 3 days of auction end. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.
