Vehicle Detail
This 1951 Pontiac is an original, unrestored, numbers matching California car. It was originally assembled in South Gate, CA and purchased in Fresno, CA. It spent some time up in Oregon, but it appears most of its life was spent in California. The car has 63,588 original miles, documented by repair receipts over the years. I have repair receipts going back to the mid 1960s. I believe I'm the 4th owner of the car. The car was repainted years ago (in a color close to the original), and the paint on the roof is peeling off. The roof should be repainted. The upholstery was also replaced a few years ago in the original style, and shows very well. Some of the chrome should be redone (the grill and rear bumper), but much of chrome and stainless still looks very good. The car starts right up, and runs great. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car any distance, it's that solid mechanically. The engine, transmission and drive train are all in excellent condition. This car was obviously well maintained and cared for over the years. There are absolutely no rust issues with the car. No floors have been patched, the underside is all original and in great shape. The doors open and shut properly, and the windows roll up and down as they should. Electrically, everything works, including all gauges (except for the clock, which still looks brand new). Even the radio works as good as ever. The car does leak some (engine oil, trans & differential fluid), like most old cars do. It probably could use a new rear main seal, along with a transmission seal and pinion seal in the differential. The cooling system works great, it never overheats, even in the hottest weather. Please e-mail or call me (626-487-7168) with any questions. This car is a very solid unrestored original car. I've replaced the prior pictures of the car with new, improved pictures. I also have the fender skirts attached which weren't shown before.
