Vehicle Detail
I’ve decided to sell my 1927 Model T coupe. I really hate to see it go, but we have a new baby on the way! The car is a professionally built Hotrod / Ratrod done in the traditional style. It is featured in the book, Rat Rods: Rodding’s Imperfect Stepchildren (Cartech) by Scotty Gosson. I am including a copy with the sale. I purchased the car from the original builder in 2010. The car was built by a member of the Delinquent’s Car Club at his shop just outside Minneapolis, MN. I flew there, spent time with the builder, drove all through the busy streets and byways of Minneapolis and attended the Frankensteiner’s Ball which is a big car show hosted by the Frankensteiner’s Car Club. This was truly one of the best car related experiences I have encountered to date. I have detailed pictures of the build process and tons of photos from cruise in's, car shows, and just tooling around town. This car gets attention wherever it goes whether you like it or not! I can’t tell you how many times I have been stopped at a red light only to look over and see people out of their cars taking pictures! I’ve even encountered cars speeding up to me and taking video with their phones on more than one occasion! It is a very unique car, and even in the rodding world you just don’t see many Model T’s. This car is a real 1927 Henry Steel Model T Coupe and it is titled as such. Below I will try to detail the specifics of the car: Body: Chopped 6” Channel’d 6” over the custom frame Frame: 2 x 3 square tube frame, Z’ed 8” in back and 3” in front Motor: 1997 Chevy Vortech small block bored .40 over 357 cubic inch displacement Completely rebuilt with the following: Double roller timing chain .480 lift Crane Cam Roller Rockers ZZ4 valve springs Pre-Fuel Injected Heads ported and polished by Frank at Hot Heads in Minnesota 2.02 / 1.94 valves Edelbrock Airgap Aluminum Intake High Flow / High Pressure Oil Pump Edelbrock 600cfm Carb Jegs Hei Transmission: Turbo 350 Completely rebuilt with B&M Stage 2 shift kit 2200 Stall Converter Lokar Shifter Cooling: 65 Mustang 3 row copper radiator (new) Hayden 16” electric fan ***Motor stays at 180? F Rearend: Ford 9” with limited slip Completely rebuilt 3.23 gear Gauges: Gauge Cluster is 53 Pontiac (lights up, speedo not hooked up) Hidden Volts, Water Temp, and Oil Pressure Gauges Fuel System: Mr. Gasket Electric Pump Speedway 12 gallon tank Brakes: Front brakes are 53-56 Ford F100 Drums Rear brakes are 11” Drums (standard on Ford 9” Rear) Dual Master Cylinder hidden under floor with access panel ***The car stops perfectly! Suspension: Front suspension is 40 Ford axle and 40 Ford split wishbones 37-41 roundback spindles Pete & Jake’s Short Shocks Posi’s super slider transverse leaf spring Rear suspension is 40 Ford style with brand new Posi’s super slider reverse eye transverse leaf spring with 48” ladder bars and speedway short shocks Steering: Reversed Corvair Steering Box As you can see by both the description and the pictures, the car was built correctly. For anyone that has researched these types of cars, most folks can’t even tell you what was used to put them together, as the cars are just a hodgepodge of parts. This one was built correctly! The only “old” piece is the original body. Since I’ve owned the car I’ve added some custom touches like the Finned Richies Cal Custom Scoop, the custom Radiator Mascot, and the trick eyeball shift knob with the recessed button for the Lokar shifter. I’ve added some upholstery to the car as well. I also installed a new battery just a couple months ago. The car is primered flat black and it has extensive custom pinstriping in silver and gloss black by famous pinstriper and tattoo artist Justin Wainner. I’ve attended numerous car shows and cruise in’s with the car and have received many trophies and plaques. This is the car that draws a crowd at the shows! If you own this, you can’t be shy because you’ll get asked TONS of questions! I’m 5’9” and about 230lbs. The car is perfect for me, but if you are super tall (like >6’1”) it would be tuff to drive the car because of the chop and channel. When I got the car, we took the header above the windshield out and sectioned it giving ~6” more of room for the windshield. This helped tremendously with visibility. Like I said though, if you are super tall your head would literally stick out the top, lol! The only way to correct this would be to recess the seats into the floor or use a super thin seat bottom. Just something to keep in mind if you are a giant and interested in this car! The car has ~3000 miles on it since completion. Feel free to contact me with any questions, the car is turn-key and ready to go. It needs nothing. It drives, stops, steers, doesn’t leak, etc. It has high and low beams, dual filament brake lights, license plate light, and horn. It does not have turn signals installed, but this would be super easy to do with the dual filament rear bulbs. The car is “finished” in my mind, but the next owner could still customize it and take it to whatever level they desire. I don’t have a top on the car, but several places still sell the original wood slats for the roof so you could put a top on it if you want. These cars did not have steel roofs originally. I like the open top and have left it that way. I don’t have side or rear glass in the car either. Obviously if you are not using a top there really is no need. If you wanted to add the side glass it would not cost much to do so at all. That’s pretty much it, when I had the opportunity to purchase the car I didn’t have that much cash lying around so I was able to get a loan from JJ Best Banc, which specializes in classic car financing, for the remainder of the purchase price of the vehicle. Once funds are received for the car I will provide a notarized bill of sale and will immediately forward the remaining loan sum to the bank. The title will be provided ~ 2 weeks later. Obviously this goes to show the vehicle is not a piece of junk. The bank had to do an inspection of the vehicle and an appraisal. Needless to say, I had no trouble getting the loan. Compared to other cars of this quality, I’ve set the reserve very low. Don’t be afraid to bid, but understand that you are entering into a binding agreement. The winning bidder will be expected to pay a non-refundable $500 dollar deposit within 24 hrs of the auction ending. The remaining balance will be due in full within 7 days. Payment in full will be in cash or certified cashier’s check. The vehicle will not be released until my bank clears the check. Shipping or transport will be the responsibility of the buyer. I have owned, and moved with, a lot of old cars though so I can offer some suggestions if needed. If the buyer happens to be within a couple hundred miles, you could just drive it home. Thank you for your interest, and good luck bidding! There is a 4 page spread featured in the book!!!On May-22-12 at 08:57:07 PDT, seller added the following information: The vehicle is for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to remove this auction should the vehicle sell locally. On May-22-12 at 15:28:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I thought of a couple more neat details about the car... It's got NOS seatbelts that I purchased that were brand new in the box from 1964. They are gray in color and have the aircraft type latches. Very cool!!! The car has real brass knuckles that are cast from aluminum for the door handles. The trunk lid has an orignal Model T style latch that uses a skeleton key. I bought one of the old steel Pabst Blue Ribbon cans for the overflow. This isn't a flimsy style new can. The radiator mascot is cast from pewter/silver and is a winged wheel. Very cool!!! Upholstry on the seats, steering wheel, and rear wheel wells is marine grade silver metal flake vinyl. Custom Built Pinstriped Cup Holder. Windshield swings out and is adjustable. Equipped with Oogha horn!!!On May-24-12 at 17:55:07 PDT, seller added the following information: The headers have motorcycle baffles inside them. The exhaust is loud, but it is not ubnoxious. It definitely isn't as loud as open headers. A couple folks asked about this, so I thought I would post it. Thanks! On May-28-12 at 08:07:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Added a couple more pics today. Enjoy!
