1979 Fiat Spider. A great car to drive all summer and into fall. '79 was the first year Fiat introduced the automatic transmission I purchased the car in 1996 and have driven it practically maintenance free for the past 16 years. Other than a set of brakes and a new battery the car has needed nothing. I change the oil and rotate the tires every year. The car has always been garaged and never driven in rain or snow. BODY...the body is in great shape for a 33 year old car. No real rust to speak of, just a few penny size spots starting. Floor boards are solid. PAINT...the previous owner repainted the car and did what I would call an amateur job. There are some drip marks and the paint is thin. There are ares where the paint has been scratched but they are not rusting. ENGINE...sounds and runs good. Last summer there was an issue with the car stalling, occasionally, at red lights when the outside temperature was hot. (90+). May need a carb adjustment, didn't inhibit my driving at all. TRANSMISSION...the automatic transmission shifts smooth and does not slip gears. INTERIOR...carpet seats and dash are all in excellant condition. No rips, tears or stains. ROOF...white roof is in good shape. Does show some wear but no rips. There is a tiny spot of green paint on the rear passenger edge. I always keep the roof down so this wasn't an issue for me. Boot cover in good shape, one strap missing but again not an issue with use. CONCLUSION...if you are looking for a car you can drive and have fun, this is the car for you. If you are looking for a car you can turn into show condition with minimal investment, this is also your car. Please ask all questions you may have.
