Vehicle Detail
1986 BMW 325ES I bought this car at auction, it was a charity vehicle It had the same owner since 1996 and was very well taken care of, only donated due to the fact it wasn’t being driven much any more. First the bad, the car needs an A/C compressor, apparently it was removed for his sisters car(they both had the same cars) The power steering rack leaks, probably needs a rebuild or be replaced. It might also need a cold start valve, the initial start up when it is cold takes a few seconds of cranking (5 seconds maybe at the most) but after that it starts immediately, the odometer reads just over 200,000 miles but does not work so I really don't know the mileage but the car looks and runs like a much lower mileage vehicle so mileage really doesn't matter. The dash does have quite a few cracks, I have a dash cap for it that looks pretty good but it was coming off when I got the car so I decided to see what it would look like with black silicone, not good but a start. I have repaired other dashes by filling the cracks with silicone then coating the dash with Plasti-Dip and they look pretty good but I got sidetracked on this one with other more profitable projects so I will leave it up to the future owner as to how they want to go about it, I will include the dash cap. I have priced parts, compressor and steering rack shouldn’t cost you more than $400 at the most and are all easy to install. Here is the good The engine runs great, no strange noises, does not smoke, idles well, accelerates strong. The clutch feels tight, suspension is solid, tires are nearly new, sunroof opens and closes, everything seems to work,Thet engine compartment and interior were extremely clean when I bought it, I have done little to this car other than some detail work. This appears to have been a very well taken car of car. It appears this car was recently painted and had the seats recovered, not in the last few years but it is very presentable, the paint is not fading or peeling. The seats are Recaro’s no rips or tears and very clean. The carpet is in great shape, no rips or stains (pictures don’t do it justice, it was getting dark) the door panels are also in great shape and clean. Here is what you are getting, a very solid southern rust free car that is mechanically sound. It does not need paint, upholstery or tires, they are all great. This is a BMW you can get in, drive daily, get over 30 mpg, and enjoy while you repair the things it needs. This is a no reserve auction, I think for as solid as the car is it is a very fair starting price. Feel free to ask any questions
