1971 Classic Mini 850, right hand drive, built by British Leyland. The mini has had its 850 motor removed and a Metro 1275 motor put in. The motor was built in 1989. The magic wand transmission has been removed and replaced with the better rod change transmission. With the larger engine in the car, it will get about 40 MPG in the city. The mini has also had the Mark IV steering column shroud removed and the Mark I shroud installed so the key is now on the dash. It makes it easier to start the car, especially if you are a bit taller. The engine starts and runs great. There are four drum brakes which work well; the front two are newer, installed with the new motor. The car has upgraded wheels so it looks quite good. All electrical elements work, as does the heater and defrost. Pretty much everything on this mini works. I have even hooked up the hand pump washer fluid system. The underside has been coated to prevent rusting. There is a spot of rust under the rear badge but it has not broken through the paint. I have put in a seat extender on the driver side so pretty much anyone can drive it (I am 6’7” and I am very comfortable). By no means is this a show quality car but it is a great looking ride and you can drive it straight away. I use this mini as my daily driver. This car is so much fun to drive and you will have compliments and people staring all the time. I don’t want to sell it but I have my first due in August and it is not the type of car that works well with an infant. Issues – the tires are going to have to be replaced in the near future (10 inch) and the upholstery on the driver seat has tear and the top of the backseat backrest is worn out. The mini comes with the old 850 motor/transmission which runs fine but there is an issue with the transmission (all the parts are there they just are not lining up at present). Also comes with another set of front A frames with the brakes attached and another set of dry suspension cones. There is also a alternator, starter motor, radiator, and a whole stack of other things that will come with the mini. If the buyer wants these items (particularly the engine) they will have to arrange for the shipping.
