1981 Pontiac Trans Am 4 Speed Up for auction is my 1981 Pontiac Trans Am. This car has been my daily driver for the past 12+ years. It has the 5 liter (305 ci Chev) with the Borg Warner Super T-10 4 speed, 3.42 Safe-T-Track (Posi) disk brake rear end. ** I will also include a copy of the Pontiac Historic Services build sheet (see picture). It has power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows, AC, rear window defrost, intermittant hideaway wipers, tilt steering column, interior lighting decor group, map reading lights. It also has the WS6 handling package with original 15 x 8 aluminum wheels. The car runs and drives great. The speedometer quit working when the car had 64,000 miles and it probably has between 90K and 100K miles on it now. It needs a new speedo cable to work. The drive train is all original but had a clutch put in at 64,000. miles. The interior is really nice but has two small tears in the drivers seat (see pictures). I bought the car in 2001 with 58,000 original miles on it but it did not have any front sheet metal. It had been in a front end accident. It didn't do any damage to the car except for the front sheet metal. Therefore, it says "Totalled Reconstructed" on the title even though there wasn't ANY damage to the rest of the car. I have a clear title in my name. The car was completely repainted in 2002-03 and there isn't any rust on the car. All glass is original as well as the body from the doors back. It is going to need new tires pretty soon. The paint on the front urethane bumper cover is showing stress cracks and chips (see pictures). It also has headers and 2 1/2" inch exhaust with flowmaster 40's and sounds very good. There is also a very good sounding Kenwood AM/FM CD player. When I bought the car, the AC system was complete but it didn't work so I removed the compressor. I also replaced the computer controlled carburetor and Hei ignition with earlier non-computer controlled units. I will send the original carburetor and distributor and AC parts with the car. I should also mention that the car is rust free and has never had any rust. This is a fun car to drive and own. It gets "thumbs up" regularly. The gas mileage is reasonably good, in the 16-18 mpg range, maybe more on the highway. This car has always been kept in the garage when not driven.
