Vehicle Detail

Blue 328 GTS This isn't so much an auction as it is a rare opportunity to not merely own something, but revel in the experience of one of Ferrari's greatest milestones: the 328 GTS. This particular example, a 1987 USA model built in October, 1986, is one of the few to glimmer in Glasurit's Blu Chiaro FER 503/C. Chiaro, in Italian, translates to "clear" - but this color is anything but! It distorts your mind as its hue radically grades with changes in light. The parchment leather interior is the perfect accent to this car's paint, and is in astonishingly good condition - no surprise though as the only two registered owners of this magnificent creation were only too fastidious concerning its care and maintenance. As your eyes lower through the cockpit, a black dash and steering wheel give way to dark blue carpets, culminating in the perfect fit and finish of the perfect Ferrari of its day. This car is complete and correct with books (including the warranty card!), the toolkit, the jack kit, and the window sticker(!). It comes with a complete set of records dating back till new. The previous owner thought it would be ...different... to saw off the shifter ball and polish the stick. So, naturally, this will be replaced with a new shifter and shifter ball before you take delivery (though it's an interesting look, and was easy to shift). While it's at the shop, I figured I'd just take care of the belts, annual service, new clutch, and replace a lower ball joint that's been a little lower than the rest. This car was the 79th 1987 USA model 328 GTS manufactured for America. The lines of this car, so deftly penned by Leonardo Fioravanti, represent a bygone era in Ferrari's history. A time when sports cars were truly built for the purpose of being sports cars; a time when bloated was not yet the fashionable couture in which this car's contemporary ilk is bespoke. The marginal horsepower compared to today's V8 Ferraris is not what's important in a car like this; it's the driving and ownership experience as a whole: immersing yourself in a period Ferrari setting whose focus was more on fun and less on auto-accessorizing. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. Any Ferraristi knows the importance of a pre-purchase inspection, and the current owner is willing to accommodate this important aspect of the Ferrari purchase - to any shop within a reasonable distance, all costs paid by the potential buyer. Questions are welcomed and will be answered thoroughly and in a timely manner. A $500 deposit is due after the close of the auction.
