Vehicle Detail
General - Like so many other ads on eBay these days, this is a project that I will probably never get around to, so I want to pass it along to someone who will. It is a 1955 F-100, one of the most sought after of the 1950s. It is an excellent candidate for either restoration or to hot rod. The truck has a clear Montana title. Body and frame - The best part about this truck is there is very little rust; we are very dry here in Montana and use no salt. No matter whether restoration or hot rod is your goal you are money and time ahead by starting with as solid and rust fee vehicle as you can possibly find. It does however have 57 years of farm use and small stress cracks, tears, dings, dents and minor rust. The welding required in this one will be minimal and primary consists of replacing a small section of the firewall which was probably removed from a back in the day transplant of some big block engine. Most of the glass is cracked however it is intact and there is no evidence of water entering the cab. One rear fender is damaged (see picture) but the truck comes with a straight replacement fender. The bed and tailgate are in good condition. The bed currently has a heavy gauge sheet metal floor; they really did a good job and the bed is serviceable as is if your intention is to make a driver. However I always thought putting the wooden bed back in would be a fun job. The truck has what I believe is a 53 grill. The running boards which are difficult to find and expensive are intact; the driver’s side is unbelievably straight and the passenger’s side is repairable. The truck is not pictured with a rear bumper however one does come with the truck. Mechanical - If you elect to go the hot rod route you are in luck as the truck comes with a Ford 302 and C4 transmission of unknown vintage. I cannot attest to the condition or lineage of either; however somewhere along the way someone felt confident in their condition enough to install them. The engine is a complete to include starter, alternator, carburetor with air filter, coil, oil filter, fuel pump and water pump. The differential appears to be a stock 50s vintage. The brakes will need attention; the first component I attend to is the brake system. You want to do this right as these old trucks only had a one chamber master cylinder. The emergency brake system seems to be intact. Some wiring will be required; the motor is not wired to the truck, nor is the instrument panel, and I am sure there will be other wining issues. Whether you are restoring or building a hot rod I recommend you go with a Painless Wiring Harness kit. These harnesses are relatively inexpensive, easy to install and readily available from a number of sources. Interior – Not much to talk about here. The floor and the cab corners are solid, (see pictures). The stock pedals are in place. The seat appears to be original, and could be used as is for a while to save money. The interior of this truck is mostly all there; if you are going for an original restoration - clean it and paint it. If you are going for a hot rod you probably have your own thoughts as to what you want to do. Summary – The simplicity of a pickup is what makes their restoration so popular and easy. This one would make a great project for a father and son/daughter or whatever. While this one will require some disassembly, reassembly, paint and mechanical work, much of what needs to be done is that which one would normally do anyway in either a restoration or hot rod build. The main point is you have a very solid body and clear title to work with. The old truck deserves another chance in life to show up at your local car show or the track. Payment, Disclaimers, Storage, and Transportation - I require a non refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours and the remainder prior to me sending you the title. Well I have tried to represent the truck as honestly and accurately as I can; please look closely at the pictures. Make no mistake it is not a running vehicle, rather it is a project for restoration or hot rod. The truck is sold as is, where is, and with no guarantee nor warrantee implied or specified. I am very proud of my 100% rating and will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit. The truck is stored in a secure compound and can remain so as long as you want as long as you pay the rent of $25 per month. I do have a tow truck and trailer and could deliver or do a partial delivery for $1.00 per loaded mile within a reasonable distance. Please New York City, Daytona Beach, and Tim-buk-2 are not reasonable driving distances of Clancy, Montana. Good luck with your bidding and thank you for your interest. On Apr-24-12 at 07:24:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I have noticed some 0 feedback bidders on my truck. While I cannot stop you from your right to bid , please understand that if you do bid and are the high bidder you have an ethical as well as legal obligation to pay for your purchase. The auctions cost us quite a bit of money and I dont have that much. Thank you.
