Vehicle Detail

This is a Solid Barn Find Arizona 1959 Mercedes Benz 220 S with rare Webasto sunroof top. This is no reserve auction I am helping to sell this car for a friend. He bought the car to restore and keep it but wife force him to sell. This is an opportunity to own one of the Mercedes' famous Pontons for a fraction of its finished value. A super solid barn find project, it's been in dry storage for many years. That soft top makes this car a real pleasure. It's leak-free; not a single drip came in when the car was power washed. The top is nice & tight when closed as a sedan and very pleasant & convertible-like when open. Restore it and have a great touring car. Or it would be a terrific parts donor car; perhaps for an even more valuable 220S/SE Cabriolet or Coupe. This car has the aluminum head overhead cam six-cylinder engine with dual carburetion, . This 220S Ponton Sedan was recently removed from storage cleaned up and is now running. Before the start-up, engine oil was changed, the cylinders oiled and the crankshaft turned by hand. Then, with a good battery & fresh fuel, it started right up. The clutch is smooth and the column-shift 4-speed transmission seems to work fine, as does the handbrake. Not much has been done, but it can be driven up onto your trailer for transport to its next home. A complete restoration (of all mechanicals, drive train, brakes, electrical and cosmetics) is the best strategy since this car is so straight & solid and because the 220S is famous for its agility, smoothness & economy on the road. As you can see in the photos, the all molding and part are in tack dashboard and door moldings are made of genuine hardwood. And the rest of the interior is very presentable for its age 53 years old car. And option with front decline seat. The body is super-solid. No rust-through found on inspection (but many areas surface rust where the paint has chipped. The floorboards, the rocker panels, the trunk floor, the chassis & sub frame, all four rocker panel jacking ports and the exterior sheet metal appear to be nice and solid and no accident this car spent its entire life in dry climates of California and Arizona in storage. All four doors fit nicely. They open & shut with the sound of quality: The ivory colored soft top was replaced (using the correct heavy German fabric) and it still looks very nice. Also included are the car's original jack and spear tier and ranch. This is a “project car no warranty as is auction!!! I encourage potential buyer's com and see and checking the car prior to their purchase or ask me for any questions you may have.
