Vehicle Detail
Ok, first, for all you eBayers, you will notice that this is my first sale. Usually the stuff I sell is small enough or standard enough to just do it locally. But I decided that to sell this car I should have a wider audience. If you have any concerns about this you may call and speak to me (Tom) directly (720-233-9212). If anyone wants to stop by and look at the car (SE PA) they are welcome to do so. And if anyone would like more info and/or pictures I would be happy to provide these. All right, about the car. About a year ago the anti-freeze started to foam up do to oil mixing. A shop told me it was the oil filter mounting unit - I replaced it with a salvaged one - didn't help. I then pulled the head and replaced the gasket (which appeared to be fine), didn't help. I then repulled the head and had it cleaned, machined and pressure tested, and was told it was ok. Put the car back together, same problem. I don't know why this mixing is occurring, someone smarter than me is going to have to figure it out if you wanted to use the car as a driver. If you're just going to part it out then it doesn't really matter. The car does start and run, but quite poorly. It isn't going to be driven anywhere in its present condition. Tow dolly or trailer. Its a 1989 944 S-2 non-turbo. 4 cylinder, 3.0 liter, 16 valve, dbl overhead cam, hydraulically adjustable timing. 5 spd, clutch seems fine. VIN wp0ab2942kn452618. The body is nearly perfect, one small dimple somewhere - hard to see/find. Paint is pretty good, a decent quality buffing and it would probably look nearly new, except for the moon roof panel, which has sustained a fair amount of scuffing/scratching. Interior is fair, seat cover material is breaking down, foam, springs and frames are still fine. Dash is cracked (like all of them), I had it pulled apart to recover with leather which I never got around to. Everything else inside is fine (carpets, door panels, console, ceiling, etc). Could use a cleaning. All assecories intact and working - a/c compressor, power windows/locks,mirrors, power lights work, etc. Has the C-2 turbo wheels, minimal scuffing. Tires still have at least half tread (255 40 ZR17s back and 205 50 ZR 17s front). All corners have wheel spacers giving the car a somewhat more muscular look and enhancing handling of course. Its a complete car - all parts are there and working (aside from the engine problems), nothing missing. No accidents, no flooding, nothing like that. It was a daily driver for me until the anti-freeze problem and now its been sitting in my shop for over a year. I need to let it go.
