Vehicle Detail

This is a relist, winning bidder turned out to be a scam! 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo, black on black leather, beautiful car with only 46,000 miles! I bought this car about 2 years from a friend with the understanding that I would bring it back to running condition and sell it back to him. He is a former employee of mine, I talked him into buying this car 10 years ago when it was in nearly new condition with only about 30,000 miles on it. He loved this car and took great care of it until it was backed into in his driveway by his mother. At this time his step father decided to replace the fender and undertake an overall paint job by himself. Fast forward a few years and the Porsche is sitting in his driveway partially disassembled and halfway sanded for paint. Being a car nut I hated seeing the car this way so we struck a deal and I took the car home to my work shop and brought it back to life. I will see if I can remember everything I did, the timing belt and clutch were replaced about 2 years before I got the car (he had this done just before he started the paint work) but since the car was never driven after having the work done they can be considered new. Here is what I did, Every belt and hose was replaced, I mean every hose, vacuum, coolant, everything, even the J-Boot and fuel lines. I replaced the sunroof seal and the rear hatch seal. The sunroof was converted to manual, removing the problematic and complex motor system which does basically nothing anyway. Wheels were refinished Lindsey Racing adjustable boost control with gauge Air conditioning was converted to R134 New cruise control, turn signal stalk New plug wires, distributor cap and rotor New brake pads New tires, BFG G-Force Sport New center console, armrest and shift boot. New Radio with Ipod USB connection Odometer gears replaced Catalytic converter removed The interior is basically all original and in amazing shape! The leather is soft, no rips, tears or wear. The carpet is in great shape, still looks nearly new. With all this there are still a few more things that need to be done, the power steering rack has a leak, not enough to cause a big problem but it does drip and you need to keep your eye on it, a rebuilt rack is easily found for about $200. The dash has a crack right down the middle, I have been working on repairing it with different materials, currently it has a coat of Plasti-Coat on it which actually works pretty good but still not perfect. I do have a dash top that I will include in the sale, I just really wanted to try to get by without it, I will add a picture of the dash this weekend. The passenger side strut mount needs to be replaced, this is very simple and only about a $60, I decided not to replace it and leave it up to the new owner since many people people decide to upgrade to the newer, more durable version which is also considerably more expensive as well, it does not effect the way the car drives, simply makes a bump noise on rough roads. I did repaint the car and it looks great for the most part, I included a picture of a spot I burned through the paint while buffing, it is right next to the filler cap. There is a small bubble on the hood and a couple other blemishes here and there but overall it is in great shape, just needs some detail work since it has been sitting in my driveway. The sunroof drain tube on the drivers side needs to be replaced, it is not there as far as I can see, it doesn't leak much due to the new sunroof seal but it does leak. There is also a leak near the battery, appears a drain hole is missing a plug? Overall this is a great car, the mileage is actual mileage, I know both of the previous two owners and have been familiar with the car for about 15 years. When I got the car the odometer gear broke on the first drive so it was replaced, this is very common on 944's. I forgot to mention that this is a Texas car, a dry Texas car, no signs of rust, not even a bit of surface rust anywhere, very solid example. I have driven the car about 3,000 miles with several road trips of a few hundred miles, it has performed flawlessly, the cruise control works great, A/C blows cold, power windows open and close, everything works that I can think of. I am selling it because the previous owner has had a change of heart, I have too many cars and don't have room in my garage where this needs to be kept and I really don't have the time to drive it like it deserves. This is a great car, an absolute blast to drive and also gets good mileage. It needs very little, it is a car you can get in and drive anywhere and not do anything to it, or spend a couple days and make it perfect but all of the major things have been done, for this price and this mileage I really don't think you will find a better deal. In my opinion this is a great investment car, the prices on these have remained steady and probably bottomed out, this was an important car for it's day, finding a nice original car in this condition is getting harder to do and I really think these cars are soon to go up in value. I have been asked to include pictures of the undercarriage, I will include some this weekend but it is clean, no leaks, drips, rust or any problems. Feel free to ask any questions
