Here is the story on this rare pickup.... I bought it from the original owner. The previous owner bought the truck here in Colorado Springs (original US spec. truck) to transport items to and from her antique store in Southern Colorado. In 2001 or 2002 she parked the truck as she had purchased a new vehicle and could not afford the insurance on two vehicles. I purchased the vehicle in November and installed a new timing belt, water pump, tires, fuel filter, drained and filled the diesel tank and she fired right up. I put a temp tag in it and drove it around for 20 days and put a little over a thousand miles on it (I am a pizza delivery driver). I just was not a fan of it so I am now selling this truck. I would rather invest the money into my Jeeps instead of this. By the way, I was able to put three tanks of diesel in it and got the following mpg's: 24, 29, 30. I do not know if it will pass emissions as I never had it tested. Also, the wire hanging down from the dash go to an after market ghetto blaster the previous owner installed behind the seat. Anyways, here is some information on the truck... 1984 Toyota Pickup/hilux dlx 1/2 ton. 130,xxx miles 2wd 5 speed 2l diesel (non-turbo) no air conditioning. the vehicle did not come with it from the factory. The windows, blinkers, reverse lights, brake lights, head lights, wipers, windshield squirters, speedometer, odometer, temp gauge, fuel gauge, interior lights, locks, heater all work as they should. The blower motor is a little noisy (maybe leaves?). There is also no warning lights(idiot lights) on. Here is some areas that may need attention:windshield is crackedhas an oil leak on the drivers side - its slight and only does it with it runningwill need a new brake booster. It still stops, but the pedal is near the floor before it catches.there is some surface rust in the bed and there is one spot on the passenger side in front of the rear wheel that is the size of a quarter to half dollar and it is surface rust as well.the tailgate still functions but it takes a special touch to open.the body has its fair share of dents - shown in pics.dash is cracked- shown in pics.previous owners dogs used the shift knob as a chew toy and took a chunk out of the shifter boot as well... shown in pics.the fluid in the tranny and rear end will need to be changed (no noises, just old fluid).The door panels and the vinyl floor on the drivers side have a few cracks. The truck does come with a camper free of charge. The downside is that the rear window in the camper has been blown out. The truck does run great. It takes 2-3 cranks and smokes a little in the mornings, but the smoke intantly clears when it starts. After that it starts on the first crank everytime and does not smoke. The transmission shifts as it should with no wierd noises. Dido for the rear end. Will the vehicle make it cross country? who knows. It starts and runs fine but it has been sitting for 10+ years. I will leave it to your discretion. I will offer to ship the vehicle myself for an additional cost. There is a truck and 16 foot trailer that I can use and can take it halfway, all the way or any distance inbetween.
