Vehicle Detail

1980 Jet Electrica 007 This fully electric car was used by the the City of Denver Colorado in conjunction with the Dept. of Energy as an demonstration vehicle. See the attached broscure that would be handed out at schools, events and displays. Jet Industries, based in Austin, Texas specialized in converting everything from Ford Escorts to the Subaru Minivans to electric power. This EV was built off Dodge Omni's 024 body and drive train minus gas engine. (The heater is gas fired). Jet industries converted several thousand vehicles until the price of oil went down in the 1980's putting them and many other "Green" companies out of business. Wikipedia has a description of the company and its conversions. I purchased the car several years ago and had it shipped out to California. I never did anything to get it operating except add a new set of tires. I believe it originally had 20 Six volt golf cart batteries- 120V system. It has an on board Lestronic 1 automatic charger rated at 25 amps at 220V. It has a 4 speed manual transmission and was rated at freeway speeds 60-70 mph for a range of 50-70 miles. It could be recharged overnight. The car was registered until May 1989 and apparently was placed in a storage lot and stayed there until I bought it. The car has no rust issues and is very solid. The interior is sun faded and dirty. It looks to be complete and I understand it was running when parked years ago. It has various dents, scrapes and dings as well as a broken windshield probably from vandalism while sitting in the lot. The steering wheel is missing a center cover. It will take a lot of cleaning and a cosmetic /restoration and minor body work. I have no idea how the electrical systems are affected by sitting this long. It will need a complete set of batteries. It is sold as a parts vehicle and on bill of sale. Winning bidder will have to make arrangements for shipping. I will assist as I can and possibly deliver locally. I am located near San Luis Obispo, California. I bought if because I thought it could be a practical electric car having good performance and driving distance. Also I think it is a pretty cool looking fastback coupe. I just never had the time to do anything with it and know next to nothing about electic systems.
