Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The wife said it has to GO!!! You are bidding on my 1964 Thunderbird Landau Coupe Hardtop. It has the 390 Cubic Inch V8 engine with a 4 bbl carburetor. We bought the car about 3 years ago as a project for my son and me. Our plan was to work on the mechanical things in order for the car to be drivable, and then worry about painting it and polishing the chrome. However, we have not had the time necessary to finish this classic beauty, and my son has graduated high school and moved out on his own.The car is titled in my name. There are just a few things that need to be done in order to be able to drive this classic. And they are fairly simple and not too expensive. The body and seats are in excellent condition (a couple of cuts in driver’s seat). No broken windows or cracks. No rust at all. The underside of the car looks good, so you won’t be patching anything. There is one little dent in the front drivers side quarter panel (see attached photo to see it is minor). It is about 1 inch diameter and 1/8” deep. The table below details all of the work completed. A couple highlights are that we sent the original carburetor to Pony Carburetors and they completed a concours restoration including plating components. We replaced the fuel tank, sending unit, fuel pump and most of the fuel lines. Replaced Water pump, oil pump, alternator, belts, hoses, tires, plugs, filters, upgraded ignition with points eliminator and an Accel super coil. Most of the receipts are included with the car. In the table I indicate whether or not I have the receipt. There are also a bunch of manuals and books included with the purchase. There is a table that shows the books I am including, and a photo. Some of the interior components are removed, but will be sent with the car. The door panels, window motors, passenger shade, and rear seat courtesy lights are removed, but will be sent with the car. Known Issues: 1. The car will not start. I think it is the starter. Car was running in December. 2. The electric windows do not work properly. They will sometimes move a little bit. The driver’s side motor is severely rusted. We installed new switches, relay, and you get power at the motors, so might need to rebuild or replace the motors. 3. The radio does not work. The heater core is bypassed. I assume this is because the heater core leaks, but was like this when purchased. 4. The vacuum canister is not installed, but appears to be ok. Will ship with car. 5. There is no spare wheel or tire. 6. There is a short between the switch and the windshield washer pump. Simply run a new wire from the switch to the washer pump. 7. The gauges do not work. Replaced sensors, sending units, etc. I assume it is the instrument voltage regulator. Purchased a modern one, but never installed it. 8. The car will roll in park. Need to use the parking brake. Work Completed on Car Item/Part Scope Comments Receipt Autolite 4400 4 bbl Carburetor Concours Restoration Sent to Pony Carburetor for Concours Restoration: In addition to the standard restoration, the carburetor was "detailed" - all applicable pieces are plated, as it originally left the factory, i.e. throttle shaft, main body, linkage, and all appropriate nuts and screws. ponycarburetors.com Yes Fuel Lines New All replaced except between sending unit and fuel pump which was flushed multiple times.
