Classic, rare, 1938 De Soto S5 Business Coupe. Serial No: 5630821 Motor (VIN): S5-37431 Factory 93hp straight six. I am the third owner of this fine original California car. The original owner maintained meticulous detailed maintenance records and receipts (see pictures) through the mid 1950s around which time I believe he ceased driving and garaged the car. He traded this car in running condition to my uncle, at which time it was parked for 15 or more years. I acquired it from him and it has been parked in my garage for another 15 or so years - always planned to restore it but I just don't have the time. This has been garaged and not driven for well over 30 years; appears to have not been registered in 48 years. Awesome find for classic restoration or rod. Records suggest the car has 146,000 original miles. Car appears to be nearly completely original and unmodified. Includes the steering wheel spinner, vintage yellow plates, original hubcaps, jack, and spare parts shown in pics in the trunk. The engine turns over when you pour gas in the carb, so I attempted to clean the fuel system out but gave up after removing the mechanical fuel pump, which is currently out of the car. I am not a body panel expert, however, I have looked closely in fender edges, underneath, body seams etc, and I believe this to be a generally solid original California car, free of any serious rust issues.
