tim1160 Store For Sale: This is a fresh garage find - a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am - white, the red firebird decal. It has an 8 cylinder, 4 barrel carb, 6.6 liter engine with 35,656 original miles. I got this from the original owner. She co-owned it with her father, then had it put in her name in 1998. According to the title, it was only driven about 1000 miles since then! The last Pennsylvania inspection was 2006 and it has been sitting in a garage for the last several years. It has automatic transmission, manual windows, locks, no A/C. The car is solid, it runs and drives fine - although I have not checked it on the road since it is not inspected. All systems will need a good going-over by a mechanic. I'm selling AS IS, in as found condition. As far as condition goes: there is minor surface rust in various places but no rust holes and the frame is solid. The owner said years ago, the decals were faded and she was advised to have the car repainted - so it was repainted and the decals are aftermarket from JC Whitney. The upholstery is faded, the dash is good. The back window area is peeling. The headliner is sagging. The carpet has been pulled up in some areas - probably someone checking out the floor- which is solid, not rusted out. Also, in trying to open the hood, I snapped the release cable. The cable is still connected, but needs a pair of pliers to open. Cable will need to be replaced. It will need new tires. These have dry rot. The engine will need to be cleaned, and again have a good going over and tune up. I've had it running and it does not smoke when started. Contact me with any questions: 814-473-3992.
