I LOVE THIS CAR!!! and hope that you will too:)I am selling my 1998 Audi A6 that was actually a mid-year release, so it is the new body style of the 1999+, the award winning body style that re-launched Audi as such a formidable player in the luxury car market! It even has the sleek HID headlights! I am the second owner and bought it certified pre-owned from a dealership. This has been an extra car for us for 5-years now and I'm finally giving-in to my wife's insistence that it doesn't make sense to leave it sitting outside and being driven only once a month on a nice weekend. So here's what I can tell you about the car... The interior is in great condition with no significant wear on the leather and the exterior is also in good condition but has several minor scratches and scrapes that you would expect on a car of this age. The only significant dents are about the size of a quarter (2 of them) on the front bumper, a picture of which is attached. The car drives great and corners/accelerates like a dream, with the tiptronic transmission as strong as the day I bought it. She also has a relatively new Interstate battery and the tires only have about 10K miles on them. The O2 sensors and both catalytic converters and mufflers were replaced in the past 2-years and it's been serviced regularly. It does not effect the way the car drives and when I take it to the shop, it returns some sort of 'Exhaust/Airflow' code. I have had the shop replace all the O2 sensors, mufflers and catalytic converters trying to chase down this error code and finally I just decided that I could live with the little yellow light on the dash. The only time it effects me is at inspection time and I just wait until the light goes out to have it inspected or I have the shop reset the light and then drive it around for a few miles before doing the inspection.AIRBAG LIGHT: My battery died about 9-months ago and when I had it jumped off, the airbag light came on and has stayed on. I've been told that this is a common issue and that the airbag is probably fine (there are 6 airbags in this car), but only an Audi dealer can reset the airbag light and I haven't had the chance to get to a dealer, so please decide for yourself.STEREO: This is an awesome sound system (Bose Concert Surround), but there seems to be a loose speaker cable (I don't know this for sure, just guessing) behind the stereo and sometimes the sound will just fade off. Might be an easy fix, but I haven't looked in to it since I drive it so infrequently. It also has a 6-disc changer in the trunk, but it hasn't worked for years.OIL PRESSURE SENDER: It has a bad oil pressure sending unit that will indicate low oil pressure even when the pressure and oil level are perfectly fine, which will intermittently cause the oil indicator light to go off on the dash. If you are a Saturday mechanic, this may be an easy fix for you, otherwise a local shop should be able to replace the unit fairly easily.OIL LEAK: It has a small oil leak somewhere in the engine compartment and has for years. It's a very small leak that hasn't required me to add much oil between regular changes, but it does sometimes produce a burning oil smell when the car first begins to heat up, particularly if you are standing outside the car near the hood. A/C: The AC does not blow cold air. It needs a new compressor if you want to have AC.COLLISIONS: I'm not aware of any collisions from the previous owner. Since I have owned it, the car has been involved in two minor incidents: (1) A fender bender that required the bumper and right headlight to be replaced, and (2) A car hit me in a parking lot that required some body work on the right rear fender and wheel. REAR VIEW MIRROR: Discolored Glass from the auto-tint fluid, but you can still see out of it fine.I'm not a professional car salesman or mechanic - I just want this car to go to a happy home with an owner who will be happy with their purchase, so I have honestly laid out everything that I know about the car to the best of my ability. I invite you to ask me any additional questions and arrive at your own conclusions, but I think that this could be a beautiful, fun to drive car for somebody who isn't bothered by the items listed above, or is happy to invest in fixing those items that do.
