Straight-6 automatic C4 transmission. The 1966 Mustang was in production only 1-1/2 years when it reached the 1,000,000 sold mark. This outstanding accomplishment was celebrated with the release of the Sprint 200 Mustang. The Sprint 200 was, in many ways, exactly the same as any other 1966 Mustang. However, the Sprint 200 Option Group added the body side accent stripe, a chrome air cleaner with a decal that read "Mustang Powered Sprint 200", wire-style wheel covers, and a full-length center console. There are only 36,586 miles on the rebuilt motor. No Rust Car - There are two small dents on the rear quarter in back of the tire. Also in front of the tire, there are some imperfections in the paint which are hard to see on this white car. Car has been continually garaged through last three owners. All chrome and weather stripping is in excellent condition. Interior is in great condition. Standard blue upholstery replaced with blue/white Pony upholstery in 2009 (including front seat bun replacements). You will see in our photos that we are in possession of the original sales agreement for this special car, and that it was originally purchased on Jan. 28, 1966, from Dunton Ford in Santa Ana, California. Sometime between 1966 and 1998 it was sold to a second owner. The third owner purchased the car in 1998, and we acquired it in 2007. TRIVIA: Most of the changes for 1966 were in the form of cosmetic refinements. A new grille which featured chrome edged, horizontal inserts, replaced the honeycomb grille of '65. The chrome bars that extended horizontally and vertically from the running horse were deleted on the '66 grille. A new three fingered rear quarter panel ornament was used. The lower rocker panel molding became standard equipment, as did backup lights, and a chrome hood lip molding. The fuel filler cap no longer included the plastic Mustang emblem insert found on the earlier models. On the inside the Mustang was treated to standard five gauge instrumentation, and "woven" vinyl seat inserts. The choices of available interior colors and styles increased to thirty four varieties, giving the buyer even more ways to personalize "their" Mustang. Production increased to 607,568 units for 1966.
