1974 Volkswagen Beetle (Super Beetle) VW Bug. (photos were taken on 2/18/12) Smog exempt in California. A nice classic beetle that was a daily driver by the past owner. Previous owner was a mature man who had the car for many years. Car runs and drives well with no major problems. Carburator was recently rebuilt. Tires are a couple of years old with very little tread wear. And battery was replaced 2 years ago. BODY: Re-painted in a darker shade of the original Gold, and looks great. Chrome bumpers are fine with no pitting or rust. Original VW rims were repainted in a silver. Both running boards are new with new rubber. Engine was powerwashed and detailed. This is the SUNROOF model, sunroof opens and closes fine. Windows roll up and down fine as well. INTERIOR: Inside has the normal wear and tear for this year. These are the original seats and panels that came with the car when bought new in 1974. The carpet was recently replace with the black felt type. The front seats have seat covers on them. Floor pans has some surface rust on the inside that was removed and chemically treated. (see rust areas below under flaws). PIONEER cassette stereo works well and are attached to a speaker box, in the rear storage area. wipers work as well as all lights. FLAWS: pas. side corner of front bumper is pushed in, but does not interfere with hood operation; front windsheild rubber gasket is cracked and has some messy sealant (see pic); pas. rear yellow lens has age cracks throughout; corner of front bumper rubber is missing; top of driver's door (int.) has wear and scratches; headliner has stains; rear side panel has a rip; top of rear seat is ripped and needs re-upholstery; dash has cracked; the only rust holes I have found were beneath the batter (which was also chemically treated; there is a long hole alongside the seat rail on the driver's side; gas gauge is not working. Driver's seat is badly ripped on top portion of it and needs re-upholster. Pas. seat is intact but faded and worn; brakes might need some bleeding, but definitely stops. Also saw some older rust holes on the inside part of the fenders, not on the fenders, but on the inside of the body. Stereo has been acting up, I have a replacement stereo for it if you want. Overall this is a nice driver that still looks classic as well elegant. Not to mention this is still one very ECONOMIC vehicle to drive. Parts and upgrades are ready available everywhere online. Comes with the original jack, spare (not inflated), and tool. Clear California TITLE, Registration is on a non-op status.
