Vehicle Detail

You are viewing a very nice 1963 Plymouth Savoy 2-door post coupe, which has been recently restored as a period correct tribute to the 1963 Super Stock 426 Max Wedge factory race cars of that era. If you have been looking for a very nice, very fast, very rare car...yet a car that can be driven and enjoyed, this is the car. This 1963 Savoy started life as a low-mileage, very solid example of Plymouth's bare-bones 2-door post coupe that had very few options. This was the exact same car that was the basis for every factory Super Stock racer that was sold that year. It began as a very solid, original, 23,652 mile Southern Missouri, very dry car that was the proverbial "little old lady's" grocery getter. It was equipped with a smaller engine and a factory 3.55 Sure Grip 8 3/4 rear axle, so it was either originally a police package car or, at least, a strangely optioned bare bones Savoy. The car was recently restored (over the last few years) and had a lot of money spent to make it as "period correct" as possible, while retaining the ability to drive and enjoy it. Make no mistake, this car is a beast. It is currently putting out somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-550 horsepower but runs on pump gas and is very streetable. It is tame and docile around town, but put it to the floor and you had better be strapped in. It was stripped and re-finished in it's original, factory hue of "Sand Dune White" which is, as you probably know, more of a "beige" than a white. The interior is black, and I will go into more detail further into the description as to the work and parts that went into the restoration. After being stripped and re-finished, a 1967 440 Chrysler block was cleaned, magnafluxed and bored .055 over and completely gone through. A Indy Cylinder Heads 500 cubic-inch stroker kit was installed with Wiseco forged 10.5 to 1 pistons mounted on Eagle forged "ESP" H-beam connecting rods. A Competition Cams .509/.509 lift hydraulic camshaft with an advertised .292/.299 duration was installed as well, along with a factory reproduction-type Super Stock aluminum cross ram intake manifold and two Edelbrock 650-cfm Carburetors, a set of Edelbrock Performer RPM 440 aluminum cylinder heads wearing Crane Gold Billet aluminum roller rockers and Crane lifters, Manley head bolts, a Fluidamper balancer, Mallory high-flow fuel pump, Cloyes 3-keyway double-roller timing chain, aluminum water pump, high pressure oil pump, Fel-Pro seals and gaskets, a Mopar Performance electronic ignition distributor and ignition kit, Flame Thrower II coil, newly redone heavy-duty stock-type radiator and a new aluminum Milodon 8-quart oil pan. A set of 2" o.d. TTI ceramic coated headers with 3.5" collectors were installed and exhaust exits through 3" Flowmaster Delta Flow 3" Mufflers with scavenger pipes. A completely rebuilt 1964 push-button 727 Torqueflight transmission with Lokar kickdown linkage and a 2800 stall TCI torque convertor transmits power to the factory, completely rebuilt 8 3/4 rear differential with a "489" case and new Sure Grip differential, spinning a new set of 3.91 gears. This car has NEVER been down the track, and has not been abused...it is fresh, tight and extremely fast. Inside, the interior was redone using Gary Ball restoration pieces, including "A-100" type seats and "swiss cheese" aluminum seat brackets, seat belts, carpeting, sail panels, headliner and rear seat delete panel. All are installed and look beautiful. The dash was re-finished as well and replacement factory gauges were installed from a nice parts car. The factory steering wheel is nice, the tape was applied on the wheel for a vintage appearance...like they used to do back in the day. The windhield wiper motor is present and works, but the arms were removed and capped for the "Super Stock" look. The heater is disconnected as well, but all internals are present so, if a heater is desired, it could be hooked back up with relative ease. Please note: there are no door panels or sill plates, and some of the weather stripping/interior trim is included, and new, but not installed yet...minor but easy things to do if you so desire. Also, a vintage, original, cable-driven Sun tachometer is mounted, but not hooked up as ther is no box for it...another minor item, but one that could be added easily if you want. Outside, the paint is nice, not perfect but nice and presentable. It was refinished everywhere nicely, jambs, underhood, etc. prior to re-assembly. The front bumper is nice and original, the rear bumper is decent, but not quite as nice as the front...but still wears the ORIGINAL dealer decal on it. A "Hemi" A-990 type scoop was added to a factory steel hood, which was cut out correctly for the dual-four cross ram setup. All glass is original and nice, rear windows are fixed stationary and do not roll up or down. This was a very solid car, both quarters required a patch panel and minor straightening and the floor pans wer very solid in the rear...the front were replaced due to minor rust. Otherwise it a very rust-free, solid and always dry car. Battery is trunk-mounted and the trunk is re-finished and detailed out with a correct, factory reproduction trunk mat. A new fuel tank and all lines were installed from "The Right Stuff". It still retains it's factory 4-wheel drum brake setup with single-reservoir master cylinder. Brakes were all re-done and are new, as is all of the suspension, shocks, etc. Wheels are 15 X 5.5 front factory steel wearing 215-70-15 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's and 15 X 7 rear factory steel wearing 275-60-15 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's which are all new. Please note...this car was an original, low mileage car but the gauge cluster was replaced with a nicer one from another car. There have been less than 900 miles put on the car since the restoration. Mileage will be exempt on this car due to the age, but the title history documents it's original, low mileage. Imagine it with your own hand painted name down the side of it, like the "Ramchargers" Dodge 330's or the "Melrose Missile" Plymouth Savoys... DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP, THESE CARS ARE VERY, VERY HARD TO FIND AND I DOUBT YOU WILL SEE ANOTHER FOR SALE IN THE NEAR FUTURE IN THIS CONDITION, IF AT ALL, AT NO RESERVE. As with all of our auctions, this is a no reserve sale. This 1963 Plymouth Super Stock Savoy Replica will sell to the high bidder at the end of the auction, please complete all inspections BEFORE bidding...if you win the auction, you own the vehicle. Because of increasing expenses in every regard, we have been forced to raise our fees by $50, this is the first time in ten years that we have done this, so hopefully you will understand. There will be a $175 documentation fee and a $15 title fee added to each sale, these will be the ONLY additional fees you will be responsible for, unless you reside in the state of Ohio, in which case you will need to pay the proper amount of sales tax, based on the current rate for the county in which you reside. Temporary 30-day plate and registration is also available for $18.50. We do not charge any additional fees and there are no hidden charges. Most sellers are charging double this amount currently. I welcome any and all questions you might have prior to bidding on this Plymouth Savoy. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells locally prior to the end of auction (please call if you like). I am a law-enforcement officer as well and as such, work long hours so you are free to call me as late in the evening as you like. I can be reached anytime at (614) 893-3857. I will take calls 24/7 up until the end of the auction. Winning bidder agrees to forward a 25% partial payment (unless a lesser amount is agreed upon PRIOR to the end of the auction) at end of auction via direct bank wire transfer or by overnighted cashier's check, money order or certified funds. Balance will be due within seven days of end of auction or at time of pick up or delivery, whichever comes first. I will help in any way possible to arrange transportation. I can store the vehicle for up to 90 days, until pick up can be arranged, as long as it's paid for in full. I may be able to deliver this vehicle personally, depending on your location, at a reduced rate. I have been buying, selling and driving unique, specialty vehicles for over ten years now and take pride in offering only low-mileage vehicles that are not "run of the mill", beat-up cars and trucks. I specialize in the hard to obtain Dodge and Plymouth "Mopar" Muscle Cars, cars, SUV's and trucks, Dodge 5.9 Cummins and Ford 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel trucks, Chevrolet Impala and Caprice 9C1 and 9C3 police vehicles, collectible and rare cars, trucks and vans. If there are any questions at all, again, please don't hesitate to call me at (614) 893-3857. I will answer all e-mails as quickly as possible. Thanks and good luck! Because of people who bid and do not contact me or pay, I am being forced to implicate a rule pertaining to low-feedback bidders. ANY BIDDER WHO BIDS, WITH A FEEDBACK OF 5 OR LESS, WILL HAVE THEIR BID RETRACTED IMMEDIATELY unless they contact me first, prior to bidding. I hope everyone understands, and I thank our hundreds of happy customers, but a few bad apples have spoiled the proverbial bunch. Thanks for understanding. Please remember, this is a used vehicle, and not new, although it is probably in better condition than any other you will see. As such, it will have minor flaws consistent with the miles and age of the vehicle, and with previous use. That being said, it is in excellent condition and runs & looks excellent. It is not what you would typically expect, or what you will find elsewhere for sale. Please, if you want to come and look at it, do so BEFORE bidding...or call me, as always, at 614-893-3857 or e-mail me and I will answer any questions you may have. Thanks! On Mar-17-12 at 18:27:57 PDT, seller added the following information: For all those who have asked, I am adding a link to the Fotki photo site where numerous other pictures of the car can be seen. I have several detail shots and other aspects of the car which I wanted to include in the auction, but could not due to eBay's limit of 24 pictures. I placed the most relevant photos on the auction, but wanted you to be able to see the rest as well...so, here you go! http://public.fotki.com/E86A38/1963-plymouth-savoy-/
