Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1957 Willys CJ5. This Jeep is classified as a CJ5 but it has the original Willys data plaque on the firewall. The floor is all new welded diamond plate steel with a six point thick tube steel roll bar. The frame is all original as are the leaf springs mounted to them so it has that nice, stiff military spring ride. The old drum brake axles have been replaced with a Dana 30 and 35 from a 1995 Jeep Cherokee. The axles are mounted with a spring over lift and the brakes are all brand new. The brake system itself is also from a 1995 Jeep Cherokee so it has incredible power braking assist with little foot pressure. The steering system has been fabricated using a Chevy power steering pump powering a Jeep Cherokee gearbox giving great power steering with the touch of a finger. The electrical system has been wired with LED blinkers and brake lights on all four corners and is super bright. The rear blinkers are integrated with a relay system. The two round classic headlights are new. The gauges: oil pressure, water temperature, amperage, and fuel quantity - are all new. The speedometer is original and is a little “bouncey”. I am not sure of the mileage as the odometer wasn't working properly when I bought it, and I haven't fixed it. There is a Sony flip down CD/FM/AM player installed in the dash. This Jeep has a new windshield. The wipers are the original vacuum powered ones. The windshield is hinged, allowing it to be laid down, or easily removed. There are three new rear view mirrors. The seats are from an Isuzu Trooper and show a lot of wear (covered with two decent black seat covers). The passenger seat is easily removable giving access to the original Willys cubby storage unit in the floor. The entire Jeep has been painted with durable rust preventive paint (is known as “Michigan Yellow”). The rear tailgate is welded closed. The engine is from a 1976 Chevy 350. The engine was completely torn apart, inspected, and painted. A new timing chain, gears, gaskets, chrome valve covers, breather and air filter wasinstalled. There is a new starter and the four barrel carburetor has been completely rebuilt. The engine starts every time - except for after sitting for a long period of time. Then it takes some cranking, but she starts right up. This Willys runs smooth, and has tons of power. The transmission is a Turbo 350 three-speed automatic 4x4 27 spline shortshaft. There is a custom built shorty floor shifter and link to shift it. Cooling the engine and transmission is a new dual core aluminum radiator with a high flow electric fan. The transfer case is the New Process Chevy 205 cast iron geared case shifted by a welded eight-ball floor shifter. The drive shafts are custom welded to adapt the Chevy power train to the Jeep axles and can turn at high angles. This Willys has a wag to it that is typical when mating a Chevy drivetrain to a Jeep. This Jeep is rolling on four nice aluminum Centerline rims with 32x11.5 R15 tires. The canvas/vinyl top is not included. This Jeep was inspected by the Washington State Patrol and the tabs are current. Here are the issues I know of: The transfer case front output seal has a small leak. The right front shock is missing its upper, threaded part of the mounting stud, and has a broken upper shock mount, but the shock is still attached - the threaded part of the stud is missing. The left, rear, lower shock mounting nuts are missing - but shocks are attached. The title is free and clear and has original Willys body plate and frame numbers that match. Be aware, this Jeep is ready for the trails - but I would not advise it be taken on the highway. Please, serious bidders only! Ask any and all questions PRIOR to bidding!
