Vehicle Detail
Listed for Auction; 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300 SD 3.0L Turbo Diesel. This is being used as daily transportation 52 miles per day and has done so for the last 4 years without any major concerns. Most MB's of this generation have some sort of issues. This one is no exception. I'll try to be as accurate as possible. I'll list the "Requires Attention" items first. Common Questions Yes the dashboard is cracked. 1 Window motor RF is inoperative It leaks oil The trunk leaks like the titanic (rear window seal) The radio works (antenna bad, speakers junk) Seat switches work if you carry a stout pen or pencil (cracked) 1.5 inch hole underneath (easy to get at) Heat works good, a/c not so much (compressor noisy/no power from climate control no cruise no tach (did try cruise control actuator...no good) Valve adjustment would be a bad idea Good Stuff Runs and drives ok Trans shifts good Tires new 11k miles ago (for inspection) Rear Brakes new 11k miles ago (for inspection) 28-30 ish MPG for years 5 Bosch remanufactured injectors Rebuilt vacuum pump new belts new thermostat Fuel Filters done with every Oil Change every 3000 miles Runs well after warmed-up. Plenty of power (usual cold sluggishness) Interior is worn and the wood pieces are coming apart, but it looks ok and isnt beat up. Overall the car isnt in bad shape. With proper maintenance these cars car run well into the 500K. The car was good to me for years. I have kept up on whatever might let me sit. Its now time to move on to another project car. These are very viable alternative fuel cars for those that may be interested in FREE or NEARLY FREE fuel.
