Vehicle Detail
I have a 1966 Volkswagen Kombi project walk through that we were going to restore, but have decided to sell it. The actual mileage on the vehicle is unknown, but I had to put something in the space above. It will be sold with a Georgia Bill of Sale. The Vin tag is missing from the airbox and the M-plate are missing, but the VIN on the engine apron is clear and legible in person. I have included a photo, but I couldn't get a clear picture. The local sheriff's office ran the VIN through the national database and the report showed no issues. The vehicle is located in South Georgia. It was in a package deal with a 1927 Willys-Knight Sedan project I acquired last year. According to the Samba website, the van was built in August of 1965, making it an early 1966 model. The original motor was gone, and it has an "AE" code motor (1971 1600 dual-port). The motor doesn't have the carb installed, so I don't know if it would run as is or not. The motor isn't froze up. The only seats are the two bucket seats up front. There is some rust, but it isn't a rust bucket by any means. Most of the glass is inside the van along with new window seals, but I was planning to replace all of the glass with new one because a few pieces are cracked and/or fogged. It has new window seals with it. It has a painted front bumper inside the van. The front floor panel needs replacing, but the passenger compartment floors could be easily repaired. The right rocker panel and the area under the drivers door have been replaced with aftermarket parts. The right front door needs to be replaced as does the engine cover. The van rolls easily, but I do not know the condition of the bearings so I recommend it be hauled on a trailer or rollback. The tires hold air, but are in very poor condition. I can take other pictures if you need to see a specific item or area of the van. This Kombi will need a complete restoration, but it appears to be a lot more solid than other 66-67 split window VW vans that I have seen in the $3500-$4000 range. There is a sub hatch in the roof that I believe was installed by someone trying to convert it to a camper. I can be reached at 229-561-5609 or by email if you have any questions or if you would like to see it in person. Deposit of $500 to be paid via paypal within 3 days of auction end, and the balance paid within one week of auction end. I am not a car dealer, but since I acquired this van for my parts business Georgia residents must add appropriate sales tax. Payment by personal or cashier's check are okay, but will require 10 business days for the check to clear the bank before van can be picked up. ( I worked for a bank several years ago and saw many customers get ripped-off by counterfeit cashier's checks!) I can store the Kombi for up to 30 days after auction ends. Vehicle is sold as is-where is with no warranties. I may possibly be able to deliver the vehicle up to 300 miles from Statenville, GA 31648 for $2.10/loaded mile as determined by Mapquest. Please email with a complete delivery address if you would like an exact shipping quote. I have been selling on ebay for over 11 years now with a 100% positive feedback rating. I haven't listed much in the last few years because of time constraints with my regular job, but my descriptions tend to make my items appear slightly worse than they actually are so the buyer gets no suprises or disappointments. Thanks For Looking And For Bidding. On Feb-27-12 at 15:33:06 PST, seller added the following information: I've had quite a few inquiries about shipping the bus overseas. I now have a Georgia registration for the bus in my name to go along with a notarized Georgia bill of sale to the winning bidder, but a Georgia title is not available because the vehicle has previously been sold in Georgia by bill of sale. Georgia only requires titles for vehicles 1986 model year and newer. As long as the Kombi is paid for according to the terms of the auction, I will store it at no extra charge for up to 60 days from auction end. After 60 days, I will store it for an additional cost of $15/day to the buyer. I hate to have to do this, but due to a buyer from 2010 still having a vehicle stored here I have no other option to prevent this from happening again. Another topic I didn't mention in the original listing is the fact that the roof gutter appears to be very solid. Thanks.
