Vehicle Detail
Black Geo Metro sedan, 4 door, with sunroof. PA inspection through May 2012. Runs well, but needs work. Buyer will pay deposit ($200) through Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Remaining full payment in Cash, Paypal, or certified Cashiers Check or Money Order. Car should be picked up and paid in full within 7 days of auction ending. Now here are the details about condition: The water pump is starting to squeal and will need to be replaced. I have recently driven as much as 80 miles in one trip, but I'll be pushing my luck if I drive it much more. The transmission also needs work. For the past year I've been driving it without 2nd gear. The car runs fine and drives fine. However, now with the water pump going I don't want to do the timing belt myself, so I'm selling. The body has some wear. This car was heavily used. I've done two cross country trips with this car! The clear coat or paint is faded on the trunk, roof, and hood. There is a dent on the rear quarter-panel where someone kicked the car. And a small dent on the front quarter panel. The interior is ok. The driver's side floor gets damp from the firewall leaking during heavy prolonged rain. The sunroof does not leak. The frame and underside of the car are good and solid. There is some rust along the driver's side rear wheel well, and below the passenger door. The rear passenger doors usually do not open from the inside, some kind of problem with the child lock mechanism. The driver's side window is difficult to roll down and back up, but with some effort it does operate. Here are some of the major parts I've had replaced over the past few years: rear wheel hub assembly replaced at 156k miles Catalytic converter was replaced at 148k miles ECR valve and oxygen sensor replaced at 148k miles Clutch was rebuilt at 140k miles regular oil changes every 3000-4000k miles Assuming you can do the water pump and transmission work at an economical price, this car will pay for itself with the gas money you can save. Or maybe you just want to part it out. Any questions please feel free to contact me, I can typically respond within 24 hours. Thank you. On Feb-23-12 at 12:41:22 PST, seller added the following information: ADDENDUM (2/23/12) I was asked about the A arms and they are fine. I actually owned a Metro hatchback previously and the A arms rusted out on that one, so I know what to look for - these are good and solid. Now here is a "new" problem I hadn't been aware of - The sway bar links are rusted where they connect to the car. On the right side the rust has gone the whole way through and separated the metal. I have added pictures showing these areas as clearly as possible. Also, I ran the car today and the water pump and belt made a hell of a racket, then it mellowed out after a bit. However be aware that the water pump is ready to go. I do not recommend driving this any great distance without replacing the water pump first. Ideally this should be towed or picked up with a flatbed. On Feb-23-12 at 12:59:49 PST, seller added the following information: Ok, two more things, and this should cover all the bases. Of course message me if you have any other questions. So the muffler is also in bad shape. I epoxied a hole in it some time ago, and it has been fine, but it will probably need to be replaced for next inspection. The rest of the exhaust should be fine, and I just replaced the catalytic converter like 15k miles ago. Also to be clear this is a 5 speed manual, and 2nd gear does not stay engaged. The engine runs strong.
