1971 Volkswagon Microbus Type 2 4 cylinder engine-that cranks and runs manual transmission that shifts 5 digit odometer showing 59,812 not sure of the original mileage Bought this vehicle in Nov. 2011 with the intention of restoring, no longer have the time or space to complete after we move. This is an excellent candidate for restoration. Body Mainly surface rust most of which has already been taken out 2 small dents one on the passenger side above the rear wheel well and the other on the rear drivers quarter panel; both of which can be worked out Very straight body lines; rear bumper will need to be hammered straight Windows are all intact and except for the front windshield have no cracks or chips; the front windshield will have to be replaced; it has new chrome molding for the windshield Side mirrior holders are there; they will need new glass inserts VW emblems and name plates along with the old body molding are all still with the vehicle Tires 4 new tires 4 New VW emblem moon center caps Interior Installed new headliner Installed new rubber seat mats New wall panels all the way around the interior come with the vehicle (not installed) Has over 8 ft of beige pinch welt to finish off the edges that come with the vehicle (not installed) Over 40' of new black carpet for the interior floors that comes with the vehicle (not installed) Over 7 yards of new upholstery for the wall panels and rear seat that comes with the vehicle (not installed) New seat covers and pads for the 2 front seat that comes with the vehicle (not installed) Mechanical Cranks and runs ( doesnt have a battery nor fuel in it right now due to it being in garage) I havent cranked it in over 2 months; it did crank and run when I got it Transmission shifts and clutch feels ok Needs brake work all the way around it has no stopping ability right now. I tried to list everything I know of. I have had the vehicle for almost 2 months it cranked and ran when I puchased it, however it will have to be trailered due to the fact it has no brakes.I have the old front windshield which I can put back on in case it rains while being trailered. Again I believe this is a great project for someone; a lot of the materials have already been purchased they just need to be put on. We are in the middle of relocating and this vehicle needs to go before the relocation. Again this is an unfinished project, it has all of the potential of making a great restoration.
