Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs is a sweet 1964 Biscayne. Overall very nice car, not a show car, but a really nice driver. Turns heads every time I drive it. Sits right, looks right. I really like this car, but have just bought a 61 Bel Air bubbletop, so this one has to go. I will probably regret letting this one go, but I have been wanting a 61 for some time now, and, well, you know how it goes. These pics are very representative, as I did nothing special for these photos. I just pulled it out of the garage, vacuumed it and dusted it off. This car is a great driver, equipped with a 350 with a mild cam, fed by a 650 Holley on an Edelbrock performer RPM intake. Stock exhaust manifolds hooked to dual exhaust with turbo mufflers, which makes for a very low key exhaust note, that lets you know it's a V8 without being loud (very nice for cruising on the interstate). Underhood again is not show quality, but is quite presentable. It wouldn't need much to take it to the next level. Car is equipped with disc brakes which stop well with no pulling. Transmission is a Borg Warner, supposedly out of a mid 60's corvette. I never checked the numbers but this is what we were told. It was supposedly rebuilt, but I think the synchronizers may be suspect because downshifting from 3rd to 2nd takes some finesse. I think it may also need a throwout bearing as it makes a bit of noise through the first three gears. Once it fourth it quiets down, which is nice when cruising. Several people have told me that is "just what these transmissions sound like" but I think it is is louder than it should be. I have driven it to Charlotte twice, which is 5 hours each way, as well as numerous 2-3 hour drives and never had any trouble, so it must not be anything serious, but I wanted to disclose it. Flywheel must be missing a couple of teeth as sometimes when starting it will spin the starter without engaging the flywheel, but it never fails to start on the next try. Once you get the "feel" for it, it's not an issue, which is why I never messed with it, but again, wanted to make it known. The car has a chevelle 10 bolt rear with a 3:73 posi which is in good working order. All of the lights and work, and there is a full complement of gauges mounted in a custom polished aluminum dash panel, and they are all functioning. This is a clean dry South Carolina car, and I bought it there and brought to VA about 4 years ago. Body is very nice with only a couple of small blemishes in the paint, I tried to show them in the photos. It shines up very nice. The only modification is there has been a cowl induction scoop grafted on the hood. This is a steel scoop, and they did a very nice job with it. It's kind of neat since you don't see many 64's with a cowl hood. The bumpers were replaced when painted about 7-8 years ago, but of course it has been kept inside, so they still look great. All of the trim is in very good shape as well. The trunk is good, and as you can see has only the slightest surface rust. This is from me having a leaky cooler in the trunk which soaked a couple of towels. I didn't notice and left them in ther for a couple of weeks, and I got that pretty orange color for my stupidity. But it is only faint surface rust, so no worries. It rolls on 17 and 18 inch Billet Specialties wheels, wrapped in Falken tires, with about 5,000 miles on them. The interior is done in a tasteful gray tweed with green piping, and is in very good condition, no rips, tears or stains. It sports a Corvette steering wheel, and is equipped with seat belts as well. The carpet is done in a dark green. I never really cared for that, so I have new gray carpet from ACC that will go with it. I was planning on putting a 700r4 in, so this carpet is for an automatic, but it will go with the car. All of the weatherstripping and rubber was replaced on the doors s well, so it is very quiet inside. Glass is all good, with very faint wiper marks on the original windshield. This car was built from a 50,000 mile original car, and now still only has an estimated 65,000 miles on it. I have a binder with quite a bit of documentation, including the original bill of sale, the canceled check the original owner wrote, original invoice, window sticker, build sheet, as well as copies of the other titles throughout the years. It also has the original owners manual and maintenance booklet. I believe I am the fifth owner, and I have a clean, clear, VA title. You just don't run across these cars every day. This is an extremely solid southern car that runs and drives great, and really needs nothing. There are a couple of things one might choose to do, but there is nothing absolutely necessary. Just get in and drive! Again, I will probably be sorry for letting this one go, but I'm sure someone out there will appreciate it. I think I have covered everything, if there are any questions, feel free to contact me through ebay or call me at 540-471-0406. Car is advertised locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction in the event that it is sold. And I shouldn't have to say this, but this is a 48 year old car, so keep that in mind. If you are having the car shipped, i can be available most any time to meet and help load the transporter, though the cost for the shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Good luck and thanks for looking!!
