1958 Ford Fairlane Skyliner Retractable Hardtop Convertible With Clear Correct New NJ title. In the early 70's this Skyliner was purchased by a friend of the familys. It was run until about 1975 or so then put into a garage until present day. Alot of things change over time, but the lure of the Skyliners has stayed the same. This Skyliner is unchanged since about 1975. Just recently removed from the garage, It has had the Motor and trans Both rebuilt and reinstalled. It has had the carb rebuilt, new fuel pump, new plugs, new wires, new points, condensor, Gas tank, and misc other items to get it to its present running condition. The brakes seem to be in good working order. It will need exhaust manifold gaskets, But all head bolts are free from when the motor was rebuilt. It did not have power steering or power brakes from the factory, and still does not bare them. Some of the original items still are the Bias ply tires(will need to be replaced due to age for saftey), and all body panels. The rear of the car looks to be in a poorer condition then the rest of this vehicle. The paint has begun to spider crack and the rear bumper is in a poor condition. After sitting all these years the Black paint has held up well, but holds a few rust sports here and there. The rear passanger quater along the bottom lip may need some repair, the passanger side trunk lid has a dime size hole, and the rear passanger floor pan has some small holes in pic. The rest of the car looks good as I have seen for a paint job that is 40+ years old. It has chips, and scratches, but no major problems. looks original to me. As for the top it works and looks to be in solid shape. It will go all the way up and down as should. The trunk will open and close as well. It seems to have 1 bad relay and 2 bad limit switches. For a short part of the process the actual solinoid needs to be jumped to continue the function, But all motors and cables are there and work well. The Interior is redone in the front. It has some stains and is not perfect. The BACK SEAT IS MISSING. I do not have it and have Been unable to locate one. I am sorry. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR 35 TO 40 YEARS AND SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO BE RECIVED AS SUCH. Please do not expect perfect. I am no expert on these and do not try to be. This skyliner is a nice project car that could be worth 15,000 to 50,000 but is probably not going to be when you first recive it. MAY NEED A HEADLIGHT, AND SOME OTHER SMALL ELECTRIC THINGS, BUT WITHIN A DAY OR 2 COULD BE A STREET DRIVIN CAR I FEEL. ALL BODY, INTERIOR AND ENGINE COMPONENTS, I CAN NOT GUARANTEE BECAUSE IT HAS SAT SO LONG..... This Skyliner can be drove but should be trailered home for safety. They are complete and useable, but do have a crack. the front and rear window and both rear side glass pices are good.
