1976 MG ROADSTER ** 9700 ORIGINAL MILES!! ALMOST NEW CAR SURVIVING 36 YEARS IN NEAR NEW CONDITION! ESTATE CAR....9700 ACTUAL MILES DAMASK RED MIDGET ROADSTER SPECIAL Only a handful of cars have enjoyed the popularity of MG 2 seat roadsters. Only a few have had such a strong influence on sports car ownership and/or amateur racing. More than any other make, MG was responsible for introducing the joys of sports cars to American enthusiasts. The roadster offered here has just 9700 miles. It is one of the lowest mile, original cars of its kind in the world. Making it even more desirable, is the fact that is a true Factory Special. The previous owner had the car for twenty six years. It was always garaged and kept on blocks when not driven. HISTORY OF MG The midget history dates back to 1928. Cecil Kimber ran Morris Garages, the Oxford service operation which William Morris had established. Morris began building sporting specials and two seat open roadsters, named the M-type Midget. These forerunners to later cars were a huge success. They were attractive, well proportioned and fun to drive, and they were driven! MG created the first 750CC car to reach 120mph, and later on the first car of any kind to top 200mph. The two letters, MG, simply stand for "Morris Garages". As stated, the car offered here is an original car with 9700 miles. This is an average of 275 miles driven per year. It has not had any body work or interior work of any kind. Even the tires are the original Perelli's. The entire car is completely original. I will show you the entire car inside and out with close up pictures and descriptions. No attempt will be made to cover up or conceal any flaws or areas of concern. I will offer you my opinions and evaluations as we go through it step by step. The interior is exactly like it left the factory 36 years ago. That is what I see. Yes, it has been driven a few miles but I can not find any flaws. These cars are very sporty and comfortable. The interior appointments are well placed, the seats are comfortable and supportive with the shift lever in exactly the right place. A true sports car. The rich black interior compliments the bold Damask Red Special exterior. The exterior is completely original. There has never been any paint work of any kind. The Damask Red paint is all there, no check marks of any kind. This is the very best color for this car. It goes perfectly with the black rockers, black top and black interior. There are some faded spots only seen by a trained eye. I chose to leave them in order to present the car as completely original. Every seam, body line and panel fit is like brand new. The top, boot and drivers cover are original and in very good condition. Notice the exact fit of the top with the windows up. This is not common to these cars, especially one that is 36 years old. This year car has a bigger engine than previous models, which came as a result of MG's merger into British Leyland in the late 1960s. It is a Triumph Spitfire with a displacement of 1493 cc. The four speed gearbox is also fully synchronized. This little car has big performance. It will squeeze past 100 mph with solid, steady handling. Under the bonnet you will find the engine and all of the compartment very close to the way it left the factory, fresh and white glove clean. The trunk is just like it was when it left the factory. The original spare tire and jack are in place. It is spotlessly clean. The under carriage is as the rest of the car, solid as the day it left the factory. This is a first time offering. A true sports car with exceptionally low miles. It needs nothing and it is presented just in time for a full season of fun in the sun. It is a strong running car. It shifts smoothly. It hugs the road and cruises at highway speeds with tightness and precise handling. There are no rattles or mechanical issues of any kind, period! You just do not find them like this. An almost new car that has survived for 36 years in near new condition.
