Vehicle Detail
For sale is a classic 1970 Dodge Charger 500. This car formerly was owned by a member of the CPD who died in the line of duty, he was a muscle car enthusiast, and family responsibilities prevented him from being able to restore the vehicle. After his untimely passing, the owner of this Charger turned it into a fallen Chicago Police Officer tribute car by adding a black and white checkered stripe on the back and painted the car blue to match the colors of those who have died in service of our great city. The car underwent a complete restoration. Rear quarters were replaced with new ones from Goodmark Industries. Trunk extenders and the outer wheel wells were replaced as well. All glass was removed during the restoration and the 5 inch section of rust under the rear glass was cut out and replaced with new metal. The frame rails on the car were and are in excellent shape. The suspension is all new. The car retains it's painted black stripe underneath the vinyl overlay. The car has had a full body and mechanical restoration to look and ride like new. This car originally was built in St. Louis and came from the factory with a 383 motor. The vinyl top was added during the restoration, but the roof underneath is painted like the rest of the car. The Dodge V8 440 cubic inch motor is year-correct and the 4 speed trans has been completely rebuilt as well. The fender tag sadly was lost during the restoration, but there is a pic of it in the slide show below, I have the original build sheet as well. Front brakes were converted to discs. The original color was B7, but after a test shoot, we felt that the car "popped" much more in it's new color. The transmission shifts smoothly and you should have no problems with this car. This car has only been driven to a car show a couple of blocks away. The interior other than the carpet is all original, along with the original Hurst pistol grip shifter, and original wood rally steering wheel all in great condition. There is over $50,000 invested in this car. The car has a new set of rims and tires and a 3 inch exhaust system. This car is also for sale locally and I may end tthe auction at any point. Only serious bidders please, and no bidders with 0% feedback. Don"t miss your chance to grab this one of a kind car. You're guaranteed to get respect for this amazing restored classic and tribute to our first responders!
