Vehicle Detail
230SL (W113) Pagoda Roof ~ Complete Body-off restoration & Engine Re-Build.... Both Hard & Soft Tops !!!! .... .... I believe the vehicle was originally a Californian car that was bought by a Canadian for his wife. I purchased it from Canada and imported it back to the USA. The Canadian owner did a full body-off restoration (some photo's available) and an engine re-build. When I bought it I was told that the car had done just over 1,000 miles since the engine re-build and did the 1,000 mile service. .... .... The 54,000 miles shown on the speedo is obviously NOT correct. .... .... I fitted brand new air conditioning, a full new carpet set, tyres, hubcaps, driving light frames, brakes and shock absorbers. There are some cosmetic odds and ends that probably need doing and the gear box is a bit noisy (there is a 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox available. Great option as the original 4 speed box means that the engine pulls fairly high RPM 5 speed box radically improves fuel consumption). .... .... It's a stunning looking car that turns heads wherever it goes. It's kept garaged and never taken out in bad weather if it can be avoided. .... .... This is a CLASSIC. One of the most beautiful cars ever built by Mercedes. They were so well built that they can still be driven on a day to day basis and with the low centre of gravity and wide wheel base handle extraordinarily well for a classic that is 45 years old. The "Pagoda" roof Mercedes is one of the few vehicles that can be considered an investment with a realistic chance of it appreciating. Reason for selling? We have three of them and not enough garage space. On Feb-10-12 at 10:14:56 PST, seller added the following information: PLEASE SEE MORE PHOTO'S AT http://www.flickr.com/photos/76344587@N02/
