Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1999 Ford E150 hi-top conversion van that is in need of spark plug repair. The van has a 5.4 liter V8 with 161,000 miles on it. Most of these are highway miles to the beach. It has blown a spark plug out of the head which will need to be rethreaded/sleeved. Ran fine until the plug blew out about ½ mile from home. I drove it the rest of the way, but haven’t started it since. We’ve owned the van since new and it has been a great vehicle. I have a whole folder of maintenance records. The oil has been changed every 3-5,000 miles. There is probably about 5,000 miles on the new tires. There is one small dent in the back of the van. It didn’t break the paint so I never had it fixed. The dent is shown in one of the pictures. There is no rust anywhere on the van. Understand you are buying a used vehicle. It has been vacuumed, but I did not shampoo the carpets or wash the outside. One of the rear seats has one broken arm rest and a broken seat recline lever. I have the arm rest, but can’t find the recline lever. This is shown in a picture. It has a few minor tears in some of the vinyl covering in the back. Normal for a van of this age that has been used to haul kids. TV and VCR work. The radio in the back worked but it hasn’t been listened to in years. The rear air and heat are on separate control and work. Air up front still blows cold. It is not a smoke free vehicle. I’ve tried to list the things I know are wrong. If you have questions, please ask. All in all this has been a fantastic vehicle and will be a great van for someone able to fix the spark plug issue. If you’d like more pictures, just ask. On Feb-08-12 at 05:58:07 PST, seller added the following information: 02/08/12 Update: I've received a few questions about whether the van will start and drive. In response:I was on my way home when the plug blew out. I originally thought it was a blown exhaust donut, because that's what it sounded like. I was 1/2 mile from home so continued to drive the rest of the way albeit it was missing and spurtting at 50 MPH. I pulled in the driveway, popped the hood, and discovered the plug had blown out. I shut it off and haven't started it since. Because of recent questions I started it this morning. It started fine. It does run. I left it run for a few minutes, but not for long. As you would expect, it has a miss in it, simply because of the spark plug being out of one of the cylinders. I am no mechanic, so have no idea whether the van would/could be driven any distance. I have not done that for fear of damaging a piston or rod. I assume it will need to be repaired before any distance driving.
